We sure hope our no. 17 had a great fire insurance!
Dallas - Troubles in Paradise
American TV soap opera Dallas was a very popular show during the â70 and the â80s in the United States. It ended in 1991, after bringing its cast and crew huge earnings. While filming, lead actors Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy drank a lot and they never hid that fact. Sadly, Hagman died back in 2012 of cancer, having previously a liver transplant because of his addiction to alcohol. Aside from his acting career, Hagman was also a respected director and producer with a career spanning more than sixty years, before his passing. Meanwhile, Patrick Duffy is still pursuing his acting career and he returned to the series which had aired from 2012 until 2014.

Dynasty - Sad-ending Story
Rock Hudson was one of the most notable names in the film industry during the â50s and the â60s, appearing in many movies before switching to the television series in the â70s. Among the many roles in his portfolio, the famous actor made an appearance in the mega-popular soap opera Dynasty, which aired from 1981 to 1989. At the time, Hudson reportedly knew he had contracted the HIV virus but kept it a secret as little was known about the disease at the time. There were some rumors that he was gay but the actor never confirmed those statements. In 1985, Rock Hudson died of HIV-related complications becoming one of the first celebrities to die from the virus.

Knots Landing - Money Problems
Constance McCashin started her acting career during the â80s, appearing in movies and TV shows but she's most recognized for her role as Laura Avery Sumner in the soap opera, Knots Landing. Although she showed remarkable performance, producers had to, unfortunately, let her go due to the business finance crisis that they were going through. Her character was killed, but not before the cast members decided to write the funeral scene themselves as a tribute to their colleague. Years later, McCashin stated she was hurt with the way they decided to get rid of her. Today, the former actress earns money as a therapist and social worker. She lives in Massachusetts and is a proud parent of two children.

Melrose Place - Place Of Love
It is not unusual for two actors to get romantically involved while working on the set as we have heard many stories about our favorite celebrities falling in love. The popular â90s soap opera, Melrose Place, wasnât any different, and it takes credit for playing cupid to many of its cast members. While filming the first season, Courtney Thorne-Smith was dating actor Andrew Shue. After they broke up, she started dating Grant Show. Her co-worker, actress Laura Leighton, dated Show right after their relationship but eventually, Leighton married Doug Savant. One more couple from the show that was together in real life were actors Heather Locklear and Josie Bissett. Real life soap opera, thatâs for sure.

Beverly Hills, 90210Â -Â Strict Dad
Beverly Hills, 90210Â ran for ten years on Fox, from 1990 until 2000. As it is a drama, there are many intrigues and many couples hook up then break up in the episodes. Fun fact is that the only character who hasnât lost her virginity and doesnât have a partner for a long time was Donna Martin. The producer, Aaron Spelling, didnât want it to be about abstinence. It is that the character was played by his daughter, American actress Tori Spelling and the creator didnât want her to have any kind of intimate relationship on-screen, stimulating or not. Nevertheless, the actress enjoyed playing that part and earning big money for herself.

The Dick Van Dyke Show - Alcoholism & Other Problems
Popular American comedian, dancer, and actor Dick Van Dyke gained huge fame with his role in The Dick Van Dyke Show, during the â60s. Battling substance abuse and addiction is quite common among celebrities so it doesnât come as a surprise that he himself was having drinking problems while he was filming the show. Instead of confronting the crew of the sitcom when something bothered him, Van Dyke would spend money on alcohol. While Van Dyke struggled with drinking, his fellow actress Mary Tyler Moore was dealing with dizziness, weight loss, and blurred vision, but she thought she was just exhausted. Unwittingly then, Moore was showing early signs of Type 1 diabetes.

I Dream of Jeannie - Hidden Pregnancy
Veteran actress Barbara Eden was the star of the fantasy sitcom I Dream of Jeannie from 1965 until 1970. During the first ten episodes, the actress was pregnant with her first child and, although we remember her for wearing harem costumes, in the beginning, the crew hid her belly with a top that covered her whole upper body. Ones she got rid of that top, the show got even more fans. Fun fact about I Dream of Jeannie is that it is the last show whose first season was filmed black and white. Although the producers had a chance to film it in color, they didnât want to because of Jeannieâs pink smoke cloud and of course, it cost more money.

Bewitched is an American sitcom that aired from 1964 until 1972. Among many actors, Elizabeth Montgomery was one of the stars of the show. Nevertheless, the comedy was mega-popular at the time and likely brought big earnings to the cast.

American film director Garry Marshall created two shows during the â70s, Laverne & Shirley and Happy Days. He was known for bringing his children to work but he never let them watch Laverne & Shirley being filmed, only Happy Days. The reason? At the time, the Laverne & Shirley actors didnât have the best relationship and they used a language not suitable for children. The biggest disagreement was between writers of the show and the actors so we can understand why Marshall never let his kids see and hear that. Laverne & Shirley aired from 1976 until 1983 with a total of eight seasons.
