Boating is For Everyone
Boating is one of the most popular water sports activities in the world, and for a good reason. What better way to enjoy some relaxing time than on a craft somewhere on the water? The refreshing breeze can work wonders for the mind, but there's also something soothing about the gentle movement of the water underneath one's feet.
This young girl clearly appreciates the wonders of sailing, which is why she looks so happy to pose for the camera. Beautiful smile aside, she's sitting so comfortably that one can quickly tell this isn't her first time on a boat.
Sunset Never Looked This Good
One wonderful thing about being out on the water is the new perspective it provides. People who think they've already been to everything that can be seen in their local area would be surprised by all the new sights available from the water.
With such new viewpoints comes a better appreciation for nature. That could be one reason why Veronica Bielik enjoys taking a lot of her photos at the beach. Here, her silhouette is framed nicely against the setting sun in the background, and her bright smile could give the rays of sunlight a good run for their money.
Scary Boat Privilege
Whoever added this print to this boat must have a real sense of humor. Most people talk about the privilege of owning a big dog, but a vessel with such a sharp-toothed grin also counts for something. Watch out, fellow sailors, lest your craft gets caught in its maws.
This design shows one more way in which fine arts and the marine world intersect. The habit of painting murals onto the bodies of ships began as far back as the late '70s, and the art has undergone a lot of refinement since then. It also bears mentioning that not all kinds of paint would work for this.
Here’s to a Peaceful Sail
There's more to sailing than simply hopping on a boat and turning the engine on. And without a qualified sailor to run the show, the probability of disaster would be at an all-time high. We'd go out on a limb and say all was in order on this craft. At least this girl felt safe enough to pose for a photo holding the peace sign.
Did you know that this "V" sign–the universal symbol of peace originated during World War II? Yeah, the Allied Nations used it to signal victory during the conflict. It was later adopted and popularized by anti-war activists.
The Ocean's Friendliest Creatures
Is there anything cuter than a photo of humans interacting with animals? Possibly, but for the sake of this photo, we'll pretend the answer is no. Taking a pet out on the boat can be difficult on a regular day, but it helps that the water has its fair share of social animals.
Just as we look at seals as friendly sea creatures that are fun to look at and even play with occasionally, they also look at humans with a lot of curiosity. These marine mammals also have a rare ability to mimic the vocal tone of human speech, a neat trick if there ever was one.
Here's Why Training Matters
When it comes to water activities, jet skis are much more dangerous than regular boats. Of course, both activities come with an equal share of risks. But with jet skis offering even less protection than other oceanic vessels, a jet ski rider has a higher chance of suffering more injuries during an accident.
That is why once cannot overemphasize the importance of training. After all, the more prepared a rider is, the lower the chance that something could go wrong. We hope this man came out of this experience with only minimal injuries. That way, he could learn from this and try safer stunts in the future.
The Boating Way of Life
It may seem obvious to some, but not everyone knows that sailing is an excellent form of exercise. We don't need to lock ourselves up in the gym all the time to get our workouts done. Sometimes it pays to hop on a vessel and put those muscles to work.
If anyone knows what we mean, it would be this girl. She looks like someone who's become very accustomed to the boating way of life, which shows in her toned figure. So believe us when we say operating a watercraft is an excellent alternative to a typical rowing machine.
A Boating Lot
Cars and trucks have parking lots, and boats have docks. Of course, a place where sailing boats park on the water can go by many other names–ship dock, pier, harbor, dock slip, or wet dock but they're all the same thing.
Like there are rules guiding where drivers can pack their cars, sailors cannot anchor their vessels anywhere they feel on the water. Many cities have restrictions for docking spots and how long someone can leave their ship unattended. However, if vacationing on a lake like these guys, one can moor their vessel anywhere on the shore as long as it's not someone's private property.
Making the Most of a Tight Space
One fantastic way to escape from everyday life's exhausting hustle and bustle is to spend time aboard a boat and let the salty air and warm breeze erase the stress of city living. These women and their friends figured out the hack so that they couldn't be happier spending some time on the water.
We can't help noticing that the boat seems particularly small compared to the number of people in it. While it appears tightly parked, smaller crafts have the added advantage of being easier to maneuver. The cost of maintenance, mooring, and fuel also costs less on a smaller vessel.
Captain Jack of the Meow Meow Seas
Someone's been watching a lot of "Pirate of the Caribbeans," and it shows. While the fictional 'Captain Jack Sparrow' in that film series is a man, this vessel's owner opted to pay homage to a feline version. What cat wouldn't be happy to get this kind of recognition?
The key to picking out a perfect name for a bat is to keep it simple–long names are a mouthful, and nobody will take the time to learn them. Even USGC regulations state that boat names must not be more than 33 characters. So three words max is always a safe rule to follow.
Laugh in the Face of Disaster
The natural response to a situation like the one pictured here is screaming for help and panicking about how much water is getting into the craft. But these girls seem to be in a silly, goofy mood. And the fact someone was able to get this photo makes it seem as if there wasn't anything life-threatening happening anyway.
While laughing in the face of disaster seems much better than bursting into tears, it bears knowing that a leaky ship is nothing to joke about. It always helps to know how to handle water breaking over the deck or seeping through a hole in the boat's hull.
Trying on a Life Vest
We love a woman who not only knows how to ride a jet ski but also does her best to ensure absolute safety. We must give props to her for taking the time to wear a vest before enjoying a fun ride on the ski.
Newbies or veterans, no one is absolutely insured against the dangers of being on the water. So having a personal flotation device on your person is the best way to prevent unfortunate circumstances. In fact, most public areas require riders to have a life jacket on before getting on a jet ski, even if the engine is off.
Regatta Disaster
Have you ever heard of the regatta? It's a water-based sporting event with a series of boat races held alongside accompanying events. And what we have here are some of the top-ranked match racers in the world and winners of the 2009 ISAF World Match Racing Championship.
Professional racers don't seem to have a good idea of how to handle themselves on a boat, though, at least that unlucky man in the water seems not to. It's a good thing his teammates were able to lend him a hand, though. But that fellow with the camera must've gotten some good footage for future laughs.
Waterproof Cameras for the Win
Where would we be without the ability to take photos anywhere, anytime? A case in point is these sun-kissed paddleboarding photos of two friends just out enjoying a beautiful day together. So for anyone wondering if it's worth it to get a waterproof version, we'll leave these women to do the convincing.
The wide angle range of the device used to take this photo may cause a chuckle or two because it lengthened this woman's arm. But see how much water and greenery is visible to us. Even with splashes and a dip or two, this camera will live to snap another day.
That's the Wrong Move
We know what this looks like; The boys took their boat out for a ride, tipping it at an upward angle for a bit more fun. All was going well until the weight at their end became too much for the craft to handle. So like the fictional "Humpty Dumpty," these boys must now face their ''great fall.''
Understandably, the initial shock in such situations can delay the expected response. Because anyone would expect the boys to distribute their weight more evenly so, the vessel stays level on the water. But what's an easy fix compared to the adrenaline rush of such an experience?
What Petty Looks Like
Unfounded assumptions are never the right move, but this photo provides helpful hints. It's safe to say that the owner of this boat just went through a divorce, and it wasn't amicable because he was resentful enough to announce to the world that his ex got the house.
When the initial pain and bitterness of the separation fade, this man may develop a new perspective, allowing him to see what a great deal he got. After all, owning a marine vessel is a significant flex, opening you up to more exciting adventures. And it even sorts the housing situation because so many people live onboard their crafts nowadays.
Sea-Bound Friends
Someone said sea lions are the dogs of the oceans, and this photo is one point in favor of that assertion. Sea lions are a group of marine-dwelling creatures that share some similarities with mammals. They can also survive in water and on land, which explains how this fellow could hop on the boat to snap with this group of girls.
Notice how the girls are in the background, allowing the mammal to enjoy more of the spotlight? Well, considering that they spend most of their time in the water with others of their kind, it’s only fair to give this one the star treatment for this rare interaction.
What a Catch!
How could we have a conversation about the perks of boating without touching on fishing at least once? Here's a guy who's enjoyed the best of both worlds and couldn't resist showing off his massive catch alongside a less-fishy variant. We suppose this might be his way of saying he's lucky to have that woman in his life.
Big fish like this may be one in a million, but they truly exist. Some even larger species include the hoodwinker sunfish, which can grow up to 7.9 feet; the ocean sunfish, which reaches 10-foot lengths and the southern sunfish, which gets up to 11 feet long.
This Is My Spot
Humans are not the only ones who like to have a good time on board. Walruses have also seen the light and will take every opportunity to hop on a vessel and enjoy the ride. And this creature, who goes by the name 'Wally,' is famous for wreaking havoc on ships by trying to board them.
Walruses typically travel long distances by swimming. But Wally became popular after it began causing thousands of euros worth of damage to sailors in Ireland–it sunk two boats off the coast of West Cork. Don't underestimate how much ruin a 1763.7-pound arctic walrus can cause to small crafts.
Could Have Been Worse
Boats work differently on land than on the water, and it looks like the driver of this truck somehow forgot. The floating capability of these vessels that allow them to move seamlessly over the water is best described with the scientific concept of buoyancy. But it's an entirely different matter when the said ship is attached to a truck and moving on the open road.
Accidents are accidental except when they are not, and this incident definitely wasn't planned. Somehow, this watercraft lost the war against gravity and toppled over midway through the journey, causing the driver some stress. Let's hope he got everything settled in time.
Let Me Handle It
They say dogs are man's best friends and who else but a best friend would come to your defense when trouble comes knocking? From its stocky build to its fierce expression, this doggy is giving off the vibes of a boss. This is not the dog to mess with, no sire!
Remember we said once that taking pets along on a boat could be risky? Well, that's because of how much effort it requires to keep them in check. But finding out that dogs love being on the water almost as much as people do should be enough to motivate another boating trip, this time with a pup who can handle the sailing life.
Upside Down You Go
Chilling on the water can be fun. But just like most recreational activities, it is absolutely essential to do proper planning before setting out on the waves. Not to say that spontaneity isn't a good thing–it just pays to make safety a priority when water is involved.
This fellow looks like he wasn't expecting to take a tumble. Luckily, he's got on a life preserver, so even when he finally hits the water, the vest will pop him back onto the surface and keep him afloat. And with this footage, he'd have something to show friends and family when he recounts the event.
Just the Two of Us
It's always lovely to see older folk enjoying life at a slower pace. The younger years are more suited for the hard-hitting hustle culture. But there comes a time when we need to step back and smell the roses. This two seem to have reached that stage, as they seem to have no cares in the world.
The elderly have a lot to gain from sailing or performing any water-related activities. For one, the fresh air surrounding lakes like this can be incredibly invigorating. We also can't discount how the beauty of nature can have a calming effect on their mind and psyche.
The Salt Water and Beer Combo
Speedboats are a worthwhile expense for those who long for a higher adrenaline rush. And this man can surely tell the difference between coasting along on the sea and moving through the waves in a faster vessel as forceful sprays partner with the rushing wind to heighten the experience.
We only wish he had left the beer corked until the speed had died down a bit. Getting a spray of beer and saltwater in the face can't be enjoyable. Or maybe that's part of the appeal. If there's something to be thankful for, it's that his sunglasses at least shield his eyes from the liquid assault.
Just Like the Movies
There's a scene in the 2003 movie "2 Fast 2 furious" where a watercraft moves faster than a car traveling at 120 miles per hour. Such classic scenes are par for the course in many action movies, and something about this photo just echoes strongly in its similarity.
We've got a guy in full gear, riding an inflatable boat at full speed with dark shades on. Everything about it just screams 'action figure.' Inflatable boats are lightweight crafts with sides and bows made of flexible tubes that contain pressurized gas. They're also incredibly versatile and can work well in all water conditions.
Something for the Kids
As far as names go, this is pretty tame compared to the more outlandish options out there. With the flexible naming conventions, people take advantage o the absence of strict rules to come up with the most hilarious names for their craft. And whoever owns this thought it was a good idea to announce to the world that the boat would be going to the kids.
While boats may seem like an exciting gift to pass on to loved ones, older crafts can be more of a liability than an asset. That's because they don't have any trade-in value like cars and other vehicles.
Sea Fairing Dog
Thinking about having a dog tag along on your next seaside adventure? Then consider the following tips. Don't forget to bring along some ID. An ID tag clipped onto a dog harness is a preferable option to a regular collar, especially as the former provides a safe way to lift the dog out of the water in case of a fall.
It also helps to introduce the dog to the boat beforehand. Here is one dog that's gotten so much practice that it's now qualified to welcome people boarding the craft. It gets extra points for the cute little costume.
I Just Wanna Check Some Papers
Boating regulations are no joke. Many harbors impose a speed restriction on crafts, and there are even water areas that serve as no wake zone. This pretty much means that all boats are required to move at slow speeds while traveling in that area. Of course, these rules aren't made in a vacuum. Officers like the one in this photo are always around to enforce them.
But one might wonder why this would-be offender seems to be in such a good mood. Well, that's because this man wasn't exactly guilty of a violation. The officer only pulled up to check the registration paper.
The Safest He Can Be
This has to be a joke, and if it isn't we have nothing to say. On the one hand, it is necessary to wear a life vest in preparation for a day on the water. On the other, there's such a thing as doing things in excess. And with the number of vests attached to this fellow's body, it's safe to say he passed the required amount a while ago.
This looks like a fitting costume for a Halloween party, though. The bright colors of the vest are utilized to enhance visibility in the water. So the vibrant yellow and red would make him difficult to miss.
A Regular Day at the Dock
This looks like a case of Uno reverse. For anyone unfamiliar with the game, an uno reverse card basically reverses the order of turns. The phrase is more popularly used to describe when things happen the opposite way. And considering that the truck is in the water while the boat is still docked, this is as opposite as things could possibly go.
There's no logical way something like this could have happened intentionally, so our sympathies go to the owner of the waterlogged- vehicle. It's safe to assume, though, that dock workers encounter a fair share of similar mishaps daily.
How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse
This may seem like a hilarious name for a boat. But there's some seriousness to it. The world is full of so many surprises nowadays, and who's to say that we won't wake up to the news of some secret experimentation that somehow turns humans into zombies?
If that ever falls into the realm of reality, then boaters will be the champions of the day. Because they only have to get onto the water to be safe from the apocalypse. Fans of "Walking Dead" may even remember the 2016 panel discussion where the show's executive director Dave Erickson confirmed that zombies can't swim.
Being One With the Blue
Blue is one of the most emotionally charged colors in the world, so it's hardly surprising that it is the perfect representation of the sea. Psychologists claim that blue is a sign of stability and reliability. Such a sentiment is also echoed by businesses and brands that opt for that hue to showcase their strengths.
This woman is the perfect embodiment of calmness and serenity. At this moment, all that exists is the boundless blue around her, instilling feelings of peace and tranquility. Though the healing nature of the water is not something that's been concretely established by science, it's not exactly a myth either.
Cheers to a Fun-Filled Day
This is like a scene from every feel-good adventure comedy film. Many must know exactly what we mean. Those movies in which a group of college friends heads out for a day of adventure only to encounter the unexpected. Somehow, they overcome all obstacles in their way through the power of resilience and friendship.
And once the trials are over, the group boards their craft once again to return to their regular lives. This photo shows the group waving enthusiastically, possibly to another group on a similar boat. We should all have a water-bound adventure at some point in our lives.
What Went Wrong?
Here's another photo that could have come straight out of a movie. Ever wondered who got to clean up the messes that superheroes make during a battle? Though they hardly ever show the moments after, this is not a still from a movie, so someone's got to be responsible for this mess.
After careful consideration, it seems like the boat was moving at full speed when it crashed into this lounge and tore a hole in the roof. We only hope no one was sitting nearby as the accident occurred. We'd also like to have a word or two with whoever was behind the wheel.
Boating in Luxury
A stunning woman at the helm of a yacht–it doesn't get better than this. By now, it should be common knowledge that boats come in different sizes, shapes, and forms. But yachts may very well be the best of the bunch.
Yachts come with large load-carrying capacity making it possible to carry on plenty of luggage. But one added advantage of luxury yachts is that they do not often require extensive knowledge of sailing. Yachts also offer more privacy in each room, so occupants are assured of zero disturbance. And finally, owners of these luxury vessels could never run out of places to see.
Cockapoo at Sea
This brave cockapoo has answered the call of the ocean, and there's no going back. While poodles get most of the rep, cockapoos may be the very first breed of designer dogs. The hybrid felines are a combination of the lovable cocker spaniel and the high-maintenance poodle.
The result is a breed that's easily trained, highly affectionate, and incredibly agile. Cockapoos also adapt well to different environments, which makes perfect sense in this context. Just look how comfortable this furry fella looks in its little life preserver and with the wind in its face. It also helps that its kind are very good at swimming.
Improvisation at Its Finest
This photo proves that we don't all have to shell out thousands of dollars to buy a boat and enjoy the pleasures of the water. Of course, there's the option of short-term rentals or even paying for a cruise. But why go through all that stress when there's a simple option available?
Take a leaf from this guy's book and create a unique floating vessel. All that's required is a chair, two blocks of wood, and an electric motor. Some carpentry skills would also come in handy. This guy looks somewhat proud of his creative invention, and he should be.
Hakuna Matata!
It is mandatory to always have certain life-saving equipment aboard a ship in case of a disaster. But depending on the type of craft, the number of passengers plus crew, and the safety regulations in place, the type, and quality of safety equipment may vary. This is why authorities are tasked with the role of rescue.
In this case, as in all situations, rescue workers prioritize securing people first before paying attention to the vessel. But it's also funny that as the ship sinks, the words visible urge us not to worry. Even in disaster, Hakuna must always Matata, or whatever it is 'Timon and Pumbaa' say.
What Strange Magic?
Flying boats are the stuff of fantasy movies. But somehow, these two men made it possible for a boat to float in the air while still on land. A more sensible explanation is that the camera caught took the shot a millisecond before the craft moved from land to water, creating this near-impossible snap.
But that also raises the question of why these guys decided to move at such high speeds on a bayou–which is essentially a flat, slow-moving body of water. Another question–what's that other guy pointing to? A strange bird in the sky, a pretty cloud, or something more sinister?
Half a Boat Is Better Than None
Discounts are the bread and butter of Black Friday deals. We all look forward to that time of the year when stores try to sell out all their stock to prepare for the new year, and customers rush in droves to take advantage of the extremely low-priced products on offer.
The notion of a discount revolves around the concept of a reduced price. So it's not unusual to see things on offer with 20, 30, or even 50% off. But what's not normal is having to cut the product in half to justify the low price. Strangely, that's what seems to be happening here.
