Jeff Bezos & Mackenzie Bezos - $68 Billion
Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s CEO, ended his marriage to Mackenzie Bezos after 25 years of being together. With an estimated net worth of $137 billion in his bank account, Bezos was able to settle the matter by paying off an estimated $68 billion, which made Mackenzie the third wealthiest woman in the United States.
Mackenzie has since given $5.8 billion to fund relief efforts for the economic impact of the pandemic and has planned to give away another $2.8 billion. Aside from giving away a massive chunk of her wealth, she married a school teacher, Dan Jewett, in 2021.
Bill Gates & Melinda Gates - $65.25 Billion
In the divorce settlement, Melinda got the house, but apparently, Bill kept the windows. He laid the foundation stone of Microsoft Corporation along with Paul Allen, his childhood buddy. He met Melinda when she started working for Microsoft in the ’80s and, together, they set up the private charitable foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The duo has been married for the last 27 years before they agreed to cut their vows in 2021. According to reports, they have now separated and are waiting for their split to be finalized. If Bill and Melinda decide to divide their fortune in half, the latter would pocket around $65.25 billion.
Alec Wildenstein & Jocelyn Wildenstein - $2.5 Billion
If you had to look at Jocelyn Wildenstein, what would you think she is most famous for? Perhaps the extensive beauty enhancements that gave her face a cat-like appearance? Or her failed marriage to the billionaire French businessman - Alec Wildenstein?
Apparently, Wildenstein walked in on Wildenstein with a model, and he threatened her with a gun. Fairly decent grounds for a split. Alec Wildenstein was forced to pay his former wife Jocelyn about $2.5 billion when they called it quits and gave her $100 million each year after. The price tag came with a single condition: she could not use the money for any cosmetic procedures.
Mel Gibson & Robyn Moore - $425 Million
This year, Mel Gibson received criticism for saluting ex-President Donald Trump. He married Robyn Moore in 1980. Sadly, irreconcilable differences between Gibson and Moore led to their separation and their divorce in 2009, and not because of their politics. As per reports, Hollywood filmmaker and actor Gibson was spotted with Oksana Grigorieva, a popular singer, and songwriter, a month before the divorce.
According to the prenuptial agreement between Mel and Robyn, the former had to shell out half of everything he had earned. As per several reports, the settlement amount was calculated at approximately $425 million.
Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver - $250 Million
Be it the fitness or the entertainment industry, Arnold Schwarzenegger needs no introduction. His work in films such as "The Terminator franchise", "Total Recall", "Commando", "True Lies", and "Predator" received appreciation and acclamation from all quarters.
Arnold and Maria, the former Ms. Universe, had a blissful married life and people thought that nothing could separate the two. However, their marriage was, er, terminated in 2011 when Maria accused her husband of infidelity. Their divorce has lasted longer than many marriages, going on 10 years, and her lawyer suggests that Maria will be entitled to receive an amount of $250 million. Arnold has not remarried.
Wissam Al Mana & Janet Jackson - $200 Million
Janet Jackson had a fairytale marriage to billionaire Wissam Al Mana. Still, money can’t buy love, and Jackson filed for divorce five years later in 2017.
If the two stayed married for at least five years and then decided on splitting, she would be entitled to $100 million. Supposedly, it also states that the prenup calls for the payment to be doubled if they have a child together. They did, and their child's name is Eissa. After the split, Al Mana went on to say good things about Janet, who has not remarried ever since.
Elin Nordegen & Tiger Woods - $100 Million
Elin Nordegren is mostly known for being the ex-wife of Tiger Woods. With a reported $100-million settlement, the couple split back in 2009. In recent weeks, Nordegren is believed to have completed her master’s degree in psychology, and it seems like things are going well for Elin.
These days, Elin lives a quiet life in Florida where she’s raising her two kids from her union with Woods - Sam, and Charlie. After her high profile split from Woods due to his unloyalty, Nordegren and Tiger are focused on co-parenting their children.
Harrison Ford & Melissa Mathison - Estimated $85 - $125 Million
When Harrison portrayed the title role in the Indiana Jones movie franchise and as Han Solo in Star Wars, he would earn his place in Hollywood's limelight. Ford came across Melissa Mathison on the set of the film, Apocalypse Now, in 1979. They would get married in 1983, and be together for 21 years.
However, as soon as the news about Harrison going around with a younger woman came to the surface, Mathison decided to hire a divorce lawyer, and the duo eventually went separate ways in 2003. The settlement, as far as we know, was estimated to be between $85 and $125 million.
Steven Spielberg & Amy Irving - $100 Million
Steven Spielberg is one of Hollywood's best-known directors, the man behind the upcoming "Jurassic World 3". Yet, despite the Hollywood director’s attorney’s best efforts, a California judge refused to acknowledge Spielberg and Irving’s prenuptial agreement which was scribbled on a paper napkin in 1985, the year the couple got hitched.
Consequently, the court ordered the Hollywood filmmaker to pay a settlement amount of around $100 million to Irving, just four years into their marriage. Irving, later on, blamed Steven for treating her in a totally unacceptable way, providing the grounds for the decision to separate in the first place.
Elon Musk and Talulah Riley - $16 Million
Elon Musk is a genius businessman, but love might not be his forte. In the space of only three years, he divorced Talulah Riley twice and paid a settlement each time. They got married first in 2010 after dating for two years and split two years later.
After reconciling and remarrying in 2013, you would think the relationship should last, but it barely lasted two years, and Musk filed for another. At least they parted amicably, and Musk agreed to pay her $16 million, which could have been a lot more if it happened when he became the wealthiest man on the planet in 2021.
Kaley Cuoco & Ryan Sweeting - Prenuptial Agreement
"The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco dodged a financial bullet when she split from her tennis player husband Ryan Sweeting, thanks to a rock-solid prenup. Her marriage to Sweeting always seemed rushed, and it's great she protected her millions of dollars in a decision that turned out to be one of her worst.
All Sweeting got to show for their marriage was a one-off $165K payment and the huge tattoo of Kayley on his forearm. Cuoco wasted no time getting into another marriage, but in September 2021, she announced that they were separated.
Kate Bosworth & Michael Polish - No Settlement
It's strange, but for Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish, the decision to split after almost eight years of marriage is one of their deepest acts of love. In the Instagram post announcing their breakup, fans could not decipher how such a loving post by Bosworth could be a divorce announcement.
With an amicable split like theirs, it's expected there's no serious settlement being paid. Bosworth also sported a new haircut in September 2021 as part of something new as she goes through her separation. And her fans absolutely adore it!
Wendy Williams and Kevin Hunter - Entitled to $20 million and Half of Her Estates
Daytime talk host of the "Wendy Williams Show" and Kevin Hunter had been going through challenging times in their 21-year marriage. As if the miscarriages weren't enough struggle for the couple, Hunter's affairs were just salt in the wound.
Hunter was entitled to half of William's $40 million wealth at the time of their divorce in 2019, as well as some compensation for losing his job as her manager and about half of her estate. "Wendy Williams: The Movie" was released in 2021, and the biopic peeks into how their marriage really fell apart.
Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan - $6 million
Many of us were taken aback by Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan in the 2006 dance movie ‘Step Up’. It was not just because of their sweet moves because they tied the knot three years later. Dewan and Tatum are an example for how it is possible to ‘lovingly separate’ in 2019. Apparently, the reason the marriage didn’t work was because of their work schedules.
With a reported settlement of $6 million and joint custody over their daughter Everly, Channing and Jenna’s divorce is still being finalized. Since then, Dewan has found love again and has had a second child with Steve Kazee.
Phil Collins & Orianne Cevey - $47 Million
Phil Collins earned fame for his husky voice and pop smarts as a singer and drummer of Genesis with singles such as One More Night and, upcoming 2021 concert, Not Dead Yet. Last year, after deciding to sue Orianne Cevey, an appropriate hit of his may have been “I Don’t Care Anymore” (which was about his first divorce). Here he is pictured with Orianne, his third wife before they went their separate ways in 2008.
His marriage with Orianne lasted about six years, with Collins paying a settlement amount of $47 million. The couple reconciled again six years later before she refused to vacate his Miami beach mansion, and, well, things seem to have been rocky since.
Paul McCartney & Heather Mills - $48.6 Million
McCartney is known all over the world as a successful musician and is still producing and recently released a new album: McCartney III. The former Beatles vocalist has been married thrice. Fans hoped that he got wiser as he got older, and so perhaps, when he married Heather Mills in 2002, his second wife, the couple would finally go the distance.
Alas, their love story was not meant to be. McCartney had to shell out $48.6 million as a settlement amount to Mills when the couple filed for divorce in 2008. We should ask: is love all you need?
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt - Unresolved
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, once affectionately known as “Brangelina”, were Hollywood’s golden couple. They had three children, and adopted three more, to make a cosmopolitan family. Unfortunately, Hollywood seems to be the place where marriages fall apart easily, and despite Brangelina’s attempts to reconcile, their marriage ended in 2016.
The price of being Hollywood’s golden couple is the press surrounding the split, and that undoubtedly puts strain on an already fractured relationship. The couple is still locked in a divorce battle in 2021, mainly fighting over child custody and support - often a sad consequence of failed marriages. Pitt claims to have given Jolie $9 million in child support.
Mick Jagger & Jerry Hall - $25 Million
In 1999, Sir Michael Philip Jagger, popular as Mick Jagger in the music circuit, contested Jerry Hall’s petition for divorce because the couple was not legally married. It heralded the start of a long legal battle and a subsequent $25-million settlement.
Jagger took vows with his second wife, Jerry Hall, in 1990, apparently with a priest who was not officiated. However, Hall’s lawyers argued for the validity of the marriage despite the lack of legal binding, and so she received a tidy sum in alimony and child support. Jagger recently announced a Rolling Stones tour in 2021.
Adele & Simon Konecki - $90 Million
It has been said that Adele’s albums cover every stage of a break-up, which has led to her title as the Queen of Heartbreak. The Someone Like You singer began dating Konecki, a banker-turned-charity-boss, in 2011, tying the knot in a secret ceremony five years later.
The singer only publicly confirmed their marriage in 2017 at the Grammys, while delivering an acceptance speech thanking her manager, and her husband. They sadly announced their split around April 2019, and finalized the divorce in 2021. Adele hasn't released any new music in the past few years due to damage to her vocal cords, but fans are eagerly awaiting her comeback regardless.
Kim Basinger & Alec Baldwin - $3 Million In Legal Costs
Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger were once one of Hollywood’s power couples. They met in 1990 on the set of their film The Marrying Man, and the actor was smitten. Baldwin asked her if she wanted his children and they got married in 1993.
The two split in 2001 and a bitter custody battle over their daughter, Ireland, ensued. The battle prompted Basinger to remark the irony that they met while she was filming, "Sleeping with the Enemy" and it would turn out to be true. Alec's most recent project is a new series called "Dr. Death", which follows a surgeon responsible for leaving routine spinal surgery patients mained or dead.
Michael & Diandra Douglas - $45 Million
Who else could play Dr. Hank Pym in "Ant-Man" better than Douglas? He is the winner of no less than five Golden Globes, two Academy Awards, and a Primetime Emmy. He was married to Diandra Luker in 1977 when she was 19 and he was 32. The two had a son together, Cameron, but got divorced in 2000 after separating several times.
Sources say that Diandra ended up receiving half of Michael’s fortune at the time, which came out to about $45 million. Years later, when Michael was asked about his regrets, he claimed that he should have split from his wife sooner. The signs were there. Michael remarried Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries - Unknown
In 2011, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were married for 72 days and then Kim cut their vows. Let's take a step back here. Their marriage was so short that they could fight over the custody of the cake.
The stories generated by this event were that the marriage itself was not sincere, but part of a publicity stunt to promote Kardashian’s TV Show. Once those allegations got out, Kim, recently, publicly stated that she treated Kris poorly. Perhaps it would have been useful to be aware of his feelings before she said "I do".
Tobey Maguire & Jennifer Meyer - Estimated $32.5 Million
Tobey Macguire made his name, good or not, in Hollywood as Spiderman (which grossed over $400 million). The web-slinger uses his 'spidey sense' to locate any source of trouble so he can get himself out of danger. This would be extremely useful in every relationship, but it is not easy to discern what the trouble is or where it starts.
Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer got married in 2007, separated in 2016, and Meyer filed for divorce in 2020. What happened in between? Again, it is hard to know, but it will be complicated since they have two children together, Ruby and Itis. We hope that 'Spidey' can find a way through this tricky situation.
Hulk Hogan & Linda Hogan - $30 Million
Hulk Hogan is one of the most recognized figures in WWE’s history. He was honored with an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 by none other than Hollywood icon, Sylvester Stallone. He walked down the aisle with Linda Claridge in 1983, and the couple shares a daughter and a son.
Everyone thought that the duo would be together forever, but after 26 years of marriage, Hogan and Claridge decided to part ways. We heard that Linda walked away with several cars, properties, and even off-road vehicles, all of which amounted to $30 million. Rumors are that Chris Hemsworth will play as Hulk Hogan in his upcoming biopic.
Ted Danson & Casey Coates - $30 Million
Who can forget Sam Malone in NBC’s sitcom Cheers? Edward Bridge Danson III, a.k.a. Ted Danson, has earned nominations for more than 15 Primetime Emmy Awards and 10 Golden Globe Awards, out of which he grabbed three.
Before he attained stardom, Danson came across Casey Coates, and it was love at first sight. Tragically, the birth of Coates’ first child led to a stroke and the baby died. Danson stopped working to be by his wife’s side and nursed her back to health. Though they got divorced in 1993, it is hard to say whether their marriage failed. Danson recently starred in Mr. Mayor which was greenlit by NBC doe 2020-2021.
David Schwimmer & Zoe Buckman - Unknown
David Schwimmer, who played the famous Ross Geller in Friends met Zoe Buckman while directing his first film, “Run Fatboy Run”. They had a steamy romance and got married in 2010. They had a daughter, Cleo, who they both continue to raise even after their divorce in 2017.
The split would put an obvious strain on a relationship once marked by a sincere commitment, but they seem to be friends. Before lockdown, they were seen strolling and sharing coffee in New York. It seems that the ‘Friends’ reunion in 2021 does not only refer to the show.
Chris Pratt & Anna Faris - No Spousal Support
Despite having love and respect for each other and an adorable five-year-old son, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris decided to call it quits in August 2017. While getting divorced, however, they have managed to maintain a certain kind of friendship and are still doing a great job with co-parenting their son, Jack.
The couple’s split is also a sign of how it can be handled without all of the drama and conflict, as the two have decided that they will not pay anything to each other in settlements and will have joint custody. They’ve also agreed to evenly split the years where they claim their son as a dependent for various tax benefits. Chris is preparing for the upcoming "The Tomorrow War".
Olivia Wilde & Tao Ruspoli - $ 4.5 Million
Many fairytales have, as their love interest, a damsel rescued by a noble prince. Olivia Wilde and Tao Ruspoli, an Italian prince, eloped in 2003 when Wilde was 19. After eight years of marriage, Wilde filed for divorce in 2011.
Olivia Wilde’s marriage to Ruspoli seemed to be the beginning of a rather tragic tale. Wilde later found love with Jason Sudeikis in 2013, giving birth to two children but, much to the confusion of Sudeikis, split it off after seven years. Now she is romantically involved with Harry Styles, who would have been the same age as Tao when they eloped.
Madonna & Guy Ritchie - Estimated $76 - $92 Million
Madonna, 62, is dating a new 27-year-old man in 2021 but she has faced her fair share of failures in her love life int he past. Madonna won four Grammy awards in 1999 a year before her first divorce, then marrying Guy Ritchie in 2000. Sadly, after eight years of marriage, they decided to part ways.
Madonna has always been hailed as the Queen of Pop since the '80s and rightfully so. As per Madonna’s publicist, the settlement amount ranged from $76 million to $92 million. As one of the highest-grossing touring musicians of all time, she took a serious financial hit.
Ben Stiller & Christine Taylor - They worked it out!
The couple first met on the eve of the millennium in 1999 when Stiller was directing a pilot show. The romance took off (while the show did not). They got married and had two beautiful children, Ella Olivia and Quinlin. Sadly, Stiller and Taylor publicly announced that they were separating from each other after 17 years of marriage.
Yet, these two went down the long road of trying to work things out. It made the fans confused, but recently they ended speculation and re-affirmed their commitment to one another. It is a rare real-life happy ending in Hollywood marriages.
Jessica Andrea & Logic - Prenuptual Agreement
Certain philosophers say that emotions are not a good foundation for making decisions, reason and logic should be our guiding forces. Jessica Andrea, the "Medicine" singer, and Logic, the rapper, tied the knot in 2015. As a married couple, they clearly could not get into a good rhythm with one another.
After two years of marriage, Logic claimed that they were simply better as friends. They had signed a prenup, so there were not many assets to split. Jessica got to keep the dogs, and Logic got to keep the house in Tarzana. Logic retired from rapping in 2020 but announced his comeback the next year.
Caitlyn Jenner & Kris Jenner - Unknown
Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, tied the knot in April 1991. The pair separated in 2013, and Kris filed for divorce a year later, citing irreconcilable differences for their split after 22 years of marriage. A year later, Caitlyn came out as transgender.
If we put the pieces together, well, it is not surprising that they finalized the split in 2015, and reportedly they never had a prenuptial agreement. According to Glamour Magazine, they were fair to one another in the proceedings. At least, the couple seems to maintain a respectful relationship with one another, and Caitlyn has joined the race for Governor of California in 2021.
Melanie Griffith & Antonio Banderas - $65K Monthly Payments
Hollywood is a collection of many picture-perfect marriages. One is Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas, who married one another in 1996. We hoped it would be third-time-lucky for Griffith but, as we have learned, nothing is perfect. Melanie Griffith filed for divorce in June 2014 from Antonio Banderas after 18 years of marriage.
Still, reports say that the couple remains friends. In fact, according to USA Today, Banderas considers his ex-wife an important member of his family, calling her one of his best friends. Perhaps a happy ending, of a different kind, is still possible.
Jane Fonda & Richard Perry - Not Married
They say third time’s a charm, but Jane Fonda seems to have no luck finding the right partner after being married, and divorced, thrice. Sadly, Hollywood star Fonda and music mogul Richard Perry ended their relationship of eight years in 2017.
Thankfully, they were not married and did not have children together. They parted amicably, avoiding the drama, hostility, and linger wreckage that characterizes most Hollywood split-ups. Fonda has since returned to a great passion: activism. She recently graced the red carpet of the 2021 Golden Globes where she received the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
Eve Mavrakis & Ewan McGregor - $50K Child & Spousal Support
Ewan McGregor split up with his French-Greek-Jewish wife Eva Mavrakis in 2017, after 22 years of marriage. McGregor was speculated to lose half of his fortune amidst rumors that he was cosying up to his 'Fargo' co-star, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. You may have thought that McGregor would have learned something about betrayal from his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Star Wars".
Things turned bitter following that, with the couple making a few trips to the offices of their respective divorce attorneys. People magazine later reported that the couple split up in May 2017. McGregor had his first child with Elizabeth in 2021.
Naomi Watts & Liev Schreiber - Not Legally Married
Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber are one of the few couples on the list who were never married. However, their 11-year union did reward them with two children, Sasha and Kai. Some sources refer to the couple as “the friendly exes” which is remarkable considering Schreiber’s difficult early life with his own parent’s extremely messy divorce.
Sometimes, there are no good reasons for splitting, and people just outgrow each other. It is great to see that they are not fighting over custody and co-parenting their children in a healthy environment to this day. Watts is active today and recently starred in the 2021 film, Penguin Bloom.
Chrissy Metz & Martyn Eaden - Estimated 3.5 Million
Not much was known about Martyn Eaden or Chrissy Metz until the latter came to media prominence. Martyn hails from Britain and met Metz, who lived in Florida at the time, on a dating app. The two married in 2008 in a small gathering in Santa Barbara, California, but in 2014 Martyn filed for divorce.
Two years later "This Is Us" premiered, making Metz an award-winning actress from the hit series. She won an Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations in 2017 for her incredible performance. Eaden, on the other hand, hasn't enjoyed as much success.
Jack Osbourne & Lisa Stelly - $1 Million Cash Payment
The duo tied the knot in Hawaii in 2012 and had three daughters: Minnie, Pearl, and Andy. In 2018, after six years together, and just after the birth of their third child, Lisa Stelly filed for divorce from Jack Osbourne citing irreconcilable differences. She proposed for joint and legal custody of their three children and will receive a $1-million cash payment from Osbourne.
In a joint statement, they affirmed that they still love one another, and that family was their top priority and had tried everything to make it work. Apparently. Their new focus is to remain close friends so that they can raise their children well. Jack's latest show, "Fright Club", has made him believe in Bigfoot.
Billy Bush & Sydney Davis - Estimated $7.5 Million
The former Today Show co-host Billy Bush and his wife, Sydney Davis, after two decades of marriage and three beautiful children, decided to break up and spend some time alone to see how things went in 2017. Ten months later, their attorneys confirmed the news that they were splitting.
The reason why Bush parted ways with NBC was because of a 2005 interview with Donald Trump where the former president was heard making controversial comments about women. Bush called it plain "locker-room talk" and has not apologized for the embarrassment it caused his wife. The couple finalized their divorce in 2019, and have not remarried.
Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen - Unknown
Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen met on the set of a film, Jumper, in 2007 and were engaged a year later in 2008. After 10 years of being together, the couple decided to split in 2017. Sources say that the relationship was not an easy one from the start.
They had called off their engagement once in 2010 but reconciled again later. In the classically tragic move that a child might rekindle their love, they also welcomed their daughter, Briar Rose Christensen after the original name of "Sleeping Beauty", in 2014. It appears that they never officially tied the knot, but remain committed and loving parents to their daughter today.
Mariah Carey & James Packer - $10 Million
Mariah Carey's recent memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, reportedly contains details about every relationship that mattered to her. It turns out that James Packer was not in the book, which probably says everything we need to know about what the relationship must have been like.
While they were together, apparently Packer's family was concerned about his spending habits. Still, Packer was smitten, and proposed in 2016 with an enormous 35-carat diamond ring but things took a turn for the worse towards the end of the year. Recently, in a rare public statement, Packer said that the relationship was a mistake for both of them.
James Cameron & Linda Hamilton - $25 Million
James Cameron is the director behind the highly acclaimed "Avatar" film, with its sequel set for 2022. The Canadian filmmaker established himself in Hollywood with the 1984 film, Terminator. Banking on his directorial skills, he garnered critical acclamation with films such as "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", "True Lies", and "Titanic".
After his massive Oscar win in 1998, Cameron's personal life went downhill and his marriage to Linda Hamilton ended in a divorce a year later. The marriage lasted for less than two years and therefore, the settlement amount was decided to be something around $25 million. Cameron has since married again, for the fifth time.
Kenny Rogers & Marianne Gordon - $60 Million
Kenny Bay Rogers sold 100 million records worldwide during his lifetime and, naturally, was inducted into The Country Music Hall of Fame. He has also been married five times, and, like most musicians, we can wonder what titles like "Love Lifted Me" are about.
During his ‘Hee Haw’ days, Rogers crossed paths with Marianne Gordon. The two fell in love, and decided to walk down the aisle together in 1997. They both managed to stick it out for 16 years before opting for a divorce in 1993. Gordon received a settlement amount of $60 million, enough to keep anyone going for the rest of their life whereas Rogers passed away in 2020.
Justin Theroux & Jennifer Aniston - Unknown
Justin Theroux, who appeared in the HBO drama series ‘The Leftovers’ and acted in many other TV shows and movies throughout his career, started dating actress Jennifer Aniston in 2011, and they even worked together in the 2012 comedy film ‘Wanderlust’ before walking down the aisle in 2015.
Three years later, Aniston had to take recourse to her family law attorney as she and Theroux decided to split as a couple. It's unclear if the couple had a prenup in place or split their assets after calling it quits. The two remain good friends with Theroux even honoring his ex-wife on her 52nd birthday in 2021.
Marc Anthony & Shannon De Lima - $10K Monthly Settlement
Shannon De Lima and Marc Anthony had known each other for seven years before things got rocky and the couple decided to end their two-year marriage in 2016. Most sources have cited Anthony's demanding schedule of touring and performing as the reason behind the split.
Speculations were that an old flame of Marc's, Jennifer Lopez, was part of the equation. It seems reasonable since they share a love of music and even a child together. Still, De Lima has clarified that Lopez’s kiss with Anthony was not the reason behind their divorce. We guess we'll never really know! Anthony is currently unmarried.
GARY OWEN & KENYA DUKE - $44K PER MONTH
The American comedian Gary Owen grew up in a trailer park in Ohio before becoming a popular stand-up performer and appearing in movies and TV series. Known for "Ride Along" and "Daddy Day Care," Owen is currently working on a new film titled "Dotty & Soul" and has most recently appeared in the 2021 horror-comedy flick "The House Next Door."
A former account, Owen's ex-wife Kenya Duke left her job to support their family, including two children. Married since 2003, Owen and Duke separated in 2021 and have agreed on a monthly spousal support fee of $44K.
Vicki Gunvalson & Donn Gunvalson - $880k
It seemed like Vicki Gunvalson's second marriage to Donn Gunvalson in 1994 was the perfect one. She had just joined the insurance business and founded her own company, and what better way to enjoy success than with the man of one's dreams. The couple went on to have 20 years of marriage, but sadly that's when things came to an end.
Up to today, Vicki regrets her split. She left the reality show in 2020 and blamed being a part of it for her failed marriage. As the owner of her insurance business, she lost more in the divorce since she had to pay Donn a settlement of over $880K.
Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson - 50/50 Split
Famous actors Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson were married for two years before their divorce came in 2010. They could have been a power couple in the industry but had to end things due to irreconcilable differences.
As there was no prenuptial agreement before their marriage, their earnings were split equally, and the marriage ended without any hassles. The two actors have moved on and are enjoying colossal career success. In 2021, Reynolds stars in the movie "Free Guy," and Johansson takes on her famed Natasha Romanov role in Marvel's "Black Widow."
Jesse James and Sandra Bullock
Jesse James may not have needed Oscar winner Sandra Bullocks' money, but it was certainly bad business for him to breach the one condition their prenup was based on; no cheating! With so many scandalous affairs to his name, you'd think that's precisely why their marriage ended, but that's not even all of it. James was also convinced that his wife didn't really love him.
So it wasn't shocking that when James walked away with nothing in the divorce, it was still an amicable one. We saw Bullocks in October 2021 in the trailer of her first movie in the last three years, "The Unforgivable."
Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore - Generous Settlement With No Spousal Support
Apart from the collective fame that "Two and a Half Men" star Ashton Kutcher and "Ghost" actress Demi Moore had, their 15 year age difference was also part of why they were constantly talked about in Hollywood. When their eight-year marriage ended in 2013, Moore tried to get spousal support from Kutcher on the grounds of infidelity, but that didn't work out for her. She eventually got something generous but received no spousal support.
Kutcher remarried when his famous show ended two years after his divorce. He started producing his own films and produced some episodes of the TV series "Going From Broke," which continues in 2021.
Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez - No Spousal Support
Hollywood marriages are difficult. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were married for seven years, but for whatever reasons, they had to go their separate ways in 2011. It took three years to finalize their divorce, but it finally happened, and they agreed to joint custody of their twins with no spousal support.
The two are still good friends which is a relief if they plan to parent together. Lopez never married again, although she has had partners. She's currently linked to Ben Affleck in 2021 and has just launched her skincare line called Jlo Beauty.
Russell Brand and Katy Perry - Refused Settlement
The fancy Hollywood couple Katy Perry and Russel Brand ended their marriage just after a year. No one likes to feel like they couldn't keep a marriage, but this couple couldn't deny their differences. Thankfully they realized it sooner rather than later and ended things amicably. Despite being entitled to his $20 million share of Perry's fortune, Brand publicly refused to settle.
Perry is now engaged to British actor Orlando Bloom, and we can't tell you how hilarious their 2021 Halloween costume was. Bloom dressed up as Dr. DILF, wearing doctor's attire, while Perry dressed as a vaccine syringe as they created some awareness celebrity style.
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise - $400k Annually
It was sad to hear that TomKat, the cutest couple in the world, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, were calling it quits after six years of marriage. Compared to the $250 million Cruise had in the bank, Holmes was getting a meager $400k per year thanks to a signed prenup. Cruise owes her nothing legally but agreed to pay that amount as child support until his daughter turned 18.
Cruise did something drastic in May 2021. He returned all his Golden Globe awards to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in protest against them due to controversial discoveries about the organization.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin - 50/50 Split and No Spousal Support
Gwyneth Paltrow never wanted to end her marriage with Coldplay band's, Chris Martin. But like she wrote in her essay for British Vogue, she could feel it in her bones that it was over long before they said the words. They still tried everything to keep their marriage, but it didn't seem to work, and in 2016 they finally ended it.
Paltrow and Martin have been incredibly mature through their separation and agreed never to request spousal support. They split their combined worth of $200 million equally, and Paltrow was even happy to see Dakota Johnson, Martin's new flame, during the 2021 Gucci Love Parade show in Hollywood.
Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey - Prenuptial Agreement
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon were married for quite some time, considering they got hitched the same year they started dating, and we expected problems earlier. As part of the separation deal, Cannon was told to pay $5k into a trust for their twins every month. And because of their prenup, they both kept their earnings.
Carey and Cannon are present in their twins' life and on their tenth birthday in 2021, Cannon got them cell phones. Carey was furious because she had told him she didn't want them finding out about their half-siblings all over the place. Well, you can't shield them from that forever, Carey.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck - No Spousal Support Specified
The Batman actor Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got hitched in 2005 but separated ten years later. Affleck's alcoholism was a significant factor, but it worsened as the issues between himself and his wife grew. The separation was finalized in 2018, and they agreed to joint custody of their three kids and six months of couples therapy for co-parenting.
Affleck admits that losing this marriage is his biggest regret, but his relationship with Garner is still alright. Garner joined Affleck and his new partner Jennifer Lopez as they took their kids trick or treating during 2021's Halloween.
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert - Prenuptial Agreement
It's going to be hard for many to believe in love again after witnessing the four-year marriage between Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert end. The two had fantastic chemistry while they sang a duet on the Country Music Television screen, but it seems it will take a lot more than that to get a marriage going. There was no special issue with their separation since they had signed a prenup.
While the "Voice" coach Shelton enjoys listening to familiar heartbreak songs on the show, his ex-wife Lambert has risen to the top in her career and was inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame on October 26, 2021.
Michelle Rounds and Rosie O'Donnell - Undisclosed Terms
Some marriages end, and there's the issue of money in settlement cases. Still, for the comedian Rossie O' Donnel and Michelle Rounds, the major battle was for custody of their two-year-old daughter. After long and exhaustive court battles, they eventually agreed on joint custody but sadly, Rounds passed away later.
Donnel will constantly be reminded of Rounds when she looks at their adopted daughter. She has carried on with her career since the divorce and, in 2021, continues to feature as Carrie in the ongoing series "The L Word: Generation Q."
Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani - $25 Million
An all too familiar story of cheating with the nanny is precisely what ended the 13-year marriage of Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale. The musicians agreed to joint custody of their three sons and an uneven split of their properties to favor Stefani. She requested no child support but painfully had to cough up a $25 million payout to Rossdale since there was no prenup.
Stefani still found the courage to trust another man after the events of her last marriage, and in 2021, she got married to fellow "The Voice" coach Blake Shelton.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard - $7 Million
Oscar-winning actor Johny Depp met Amber Heard on the set of "The Rum Diary" in 2009, and in 2015 they got married secretly. The couple dated for three years without issues but just a year after marriage, Heard filed for a divorce on the grounds of physical abuse.
Even as their separation was already finalized in 2017 with a $7 million payout to Heard, the case of abuse dragged on up to date, where court cases are still happening. In August 2021, a court ruled that the defamation suit brought by Depp against Heard will not be thrown out, so there's still no rest for either side.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth - Prenuptial Agreement
Celebrity breakups are heartbreaking to us as well, so you can imagine that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth indeed broke our hearts in 2019 when they split for good. The ten years of their marriage were troubled by their differences, and it couldn't be fixed this time.
It's great they were able to reach an agreement peacefully. The prenup also helped avoid any issue with dividing their properties, so both parties remain fully entitled to their earnings, and there's no request for spousal support. Miley and Hemsworth remain dear to each other. Cyrus still talked about loving him very much on the fourth anniversary of "Malibu" in May 2021.
Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee - No Settlement Record
There was something dangerously intense about the relationship between "Baywatch" star Pamela Anderson and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. Naturally, you may see face-licking, tattooing of names on your skin, and a 96-hour decision to marry as red flags, but not Anderson.
Not until she ended up with a broken nail and marks on her body at the hands of Lee. He served six months jail time for that, and their three-year marriage was called off. Since then, Anderson has had other marriages and divorces, including one that paid her $1 million. In 2021, Anderson appeared again on an episode of the TV show "Loose Women."
Alessandra Ambrosio & Jamie Mazur - Not Married
Actress Alessandra Ambrosio and Jamie Mazur had been together for ten years without getting married. The couple met and dated for three years before getting engaged in 2008. They were only engaged but already had two kids together, and for some time, they had split from each other but tried to keep it under wraps.
Since there was no marriage, there was also no divorce, so everything remained peaceful. Although they are no longer a couple, they were seen together in July 2020 in Los Angeles, checking out a property close to where Ambrosio lived. Mazur was planning to move nearby so it would be easier to co-parent their kids.
Chris Rock & Malaak Compton Rock - No Spousal Support
Not everyone can be honest about their shortcomings, like the actor Chris Rock who admitted his infidelity was why his 18-year marriage to Malaak Compton fell apart. Although there was initially a prenup, Compton could have fought for a huge chunk of his $70 million wealth since the invalidation clause had been met.
However, they just agreed to a 50/50 shared custody of their kids and ended the legal process. Chris has come a long way in trying to be a better person and also in his career. He produced as well as acted the lead in the 2021 movie "Spiral."
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux - No Spousal Support
"Friends" star Jennifer Aniston and "Zoolander" Justin Theroux are both great actors in their own rights and had been a couple for seven years. It's as if marriage is the curse word that ends up splitting couples because just 2.5 years after they tied the knot, they were already going through a breakup. With celebrities, breakups bring the trouble of dividing assets, and it's unclear whether the two had any prenuptial agreement beforehand.
They have agreed to split amicably and share their assets equally, but they don't need each other's money with their career success. In 2021, Aniston hosted Netflix's first-ever appreciation event for fans titled "Tudum."
Usher Raymond and Grace Miguel - Confidentiality Settlement
The year 2018 was challenging for Usher Raymond. It wasn't great that he was going through a separation from his estranged wife and manager Grace Miguel after three years of their marriage. But it was worse that there were intercourse rumors about him spreading herpes around.
Usher and Miguel had a confidentiality agreement not to discuss their split, so not many details are known, but it was pretty peaceful. We know now that Usher has a new lady in his life, Jenn Goicoechea, and is very excited about his second child with her, born in September 2021.
Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman - Unknown
Drew Barrymore is well experienced in the industry and knows how tedious celebrity drama can be when it comes to ending a marriage. She wanted it quick and wanted to maintain her friendship with the art consultant Will Kopelman. This came four years into their marriage, and it seems they just grew apart.
The court settled it in only three weeks, and they were given joint custody of their two daughters. They enjoyed a fantastic trick or treat session with their daughters on Halloween 2021, and we only imagine what it was like for her to do that with Kopelman's new wife.
Mike Wolfe & Jodi Faeth - $4.5 million
It appears to be a secret law that an appearance on reality television will burden a romantic relationship. Mike Wolfe, from "American Pickers", a reality show on the History Channel that follows Mike on a hunt for antiques, and Jod Faeth, appear to confirm that law.
Together since 1994, the couple tied the knot in 2012. Even though Jodi's cancer battle in 2013, they have called it quits after nearly a decade of marriage, with Jodi listing the date of separation at June 2020, and the cut their vows in 2021, citing "irreconcilable differences".
MICHAEL DOUGLAS & DIANDRA LUKER - $45 MILLION
Before finding love in the arms of the fellow actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas was married to the film producer Diandra Luker for over 20 years. They tied the knot in 1977 and decided to separate in 2000, not long before Douglas and Zeta-Jones got hitched. Their divorce settlement? A hefty $45 million.
Douglas and Luker's separation settlement is still one of the most debated in Hollywood history. Besides getting $45 million, Luker was also given the Santa Barbara, California estate, one of the couple's many properties. They also owned a lavish villa on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
Seal & Heidi Klum - Unknown
Henry Adeola Samuel, better known by his stage name Seal, and Heidi Klum met in 2004. She told Seal that she was pregnant after their first date. Seal laughed and said, “Already? They had three children, and in 2009, Seal adopted Helene (who is Briatore and Klum's daughter). They warmed our hearts with their vow renewals when they celebrated their anniversaries. But it all came to an end in 2012, and they officially dissolved their marriage in 2014.
ERIKA JAYNE & THOMAS GIRARDI - UNRESOLVED
Known for her appearance on "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," the American TV personality Erika Jayne is seeing her perfect life crumble before her very eyes, as she's currently going through a complicated divorce process that will probably take a few more years to be resolved.
Jayne's legal conundrum doesn't end there, though, as she is also involved in the alleged embezzlement of $2 million meant to help the families of the victims of a 2018 plane crash. Jayne's alleged partner is her ex-husband Thomas Girardi, the co-founder of the Los Angeles law firm Girardi & Keese. Jayne and Girardi announced their separation in February 2021.
Prince Charles & Princess Diana - $22 Million
Nearly one billion viewers tuned in to watch the wedding ceremony of Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, and Lady Diana Spencer, a British school teacher, at St. Paul's cathedral in 1981. Their romance was believed to be a real-life "happily ever after". Sadly, it was not meant to be.
Diana, quickly becoming becoming people's princess, would come to jointly announce the royal couple's separation in 1992, and four long years later, their official divorce. Diana was given about $22 million after the split and agreed to relinquish any rights and privileges that come with being a royal. Her tragic death ended any hope of reconciliation.
Michael Jordan & Juanita Vanoy - $168 Million
NBA legend Michael Jordan walked down the aisle with Juanita Vanoy in 1989 at a small ceremony in Las Vegas. It was not a rosy relationship. No sudden event sparked it off, since sources claim that there were relational issues since the beginning of the two-year engagement.
The duo released a joint statement in 2006, 17 years later, when they amicably decided to split for good. The eventual settlement was one of the largest in sport’s history, owing to Jordan’s status, at $168 million. After the separation, Jordan married Yvette Prieto while Juanita has kept a low profile.
CHRISTINA AGUILERA & JORDAN BRATMAN - UNDISCLOSED
After two years of dating, the American singer Christina Aguilera and the marketing executive Jordan Bratman got hitched in 2005. They welcomed their first child to the world, Max Liron, in 2008 but decided to separate in 2010. The divorce was finalized the next year and, while Aguilera and Bratman are said to have reached an "amicable settlement," the sum involved was never disclosed.
Years after completing her drama-free separation, Aguilera found love in the arms of her current fiancé, fellow musician Blake Shelton. In 2021, she'll be releasing a new song: a collaboration with the Colombian singer Shakira, set to be out in October.

Kelly is seemingly paying a high price for the split. She was ordered by a Los Angeles County judge to pay $150K in spousal support and $45.6K in child support every month to Blackstock. It means the settlement payments exceed $2.3 million annually. The Kelly Clarkson Show recently won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show.
VAL KILMER & JOANNE WHALLEY - $408K
A star in movies as iconic as Top Gun, The Doors, and True Romance, the American actor Val Kilmer was married to the fellow actress Joanne Whalley between 1988 and 1996. The ex-couple shares two children, and they're the main reason why Whalley decided to go to the courts and demand Kilmer to pay her a sum of $408K.
Reportedly, Whalley and her children were forced to live with friends and family following the divorce due to a lack of financial means. The $408K amount Kilmer paid Whalley was reportedly used to buy a house. Still active, Kilmer last appeared in the 2021 film "The Birthday Cake."
Kevin Costner & Cindy Silva - $80 Million
American actor Kevin Costner and theater actress Cindy Silva chanced upon each other at the prestigious California State University in 1975. The duo eventually walked down the aisle, after dating each other for two and a half years, in 1978.
Sadly, after staying together for 16 years, Costner and Silva appointed an attorney. Costner has had a stellar career in the acting industry and amassed a fortune. As far as we know, the settlement amount was something around $80 million. While the couple agreed to file for an uncontested settlement, to avoid any publicity, allegations still flew about Costner's infidelity. Kevin has not remarried.
ZOË KRAVITZ & KARL GLUSMAN - UNDISCLOSED
The American actors Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman started dating in 2016 and walked down the aisle in 2019. But after less than two years together, the young couple decided to call it a day. They announced their separation in December 2020 and agreed on an undisclosed divorce settlement in August 2021.
Since the break-up announcement, Kravitz's been very busy working on some exciting new acting projects. In 2022, she'll appear in the upcoming superhero flick "The Batman" in the role of "Catwoman." Garth Brooks & Sandy Mahl - $125 Million
The popular singer and songwriter’s expertise in the country music genre led him up the popularity charts in America as well as around the world. Brooks is among the best-selling solo albums artists the nation has ever seen, surpassing the iconic Elvis Presley.
He chanced upon Sandy Mahl during their college days, and the duo got married in 1986. However, they appointed a divorce attorney in 2001 and Sandy walked away with $125 million. Perhaps this would provide Brooks with some consolatory inspiration. Indeed, after he married Trisha Yearwood in 2005, still going strong, his new love inspired his recent hit "We Belong To Each Other".
Kim Kardashian & Kanye West - $100-Million Battle
If Brangelina were Hollywood's golden couple, then Kimye took the mantle to touch the blizzard of celebrity. They were married in 2014 after being longtime friends. Kate Beckinsale & Len Wiseman - Estimated $12.5 Million
Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman met in 2003 when they were shooting Underworld, and got married a year later. Despite Wiseman being married and Beckinsale in a long-term relationship with Charlie Sheen with whom she shared a daughter, Lily, both insisted that there was no foul play. They were together for 12 years before their divorce was settled in 2017.
According to Marie Claire, their busy schedules had forced them to grow apart — a common reason for breakups in Hollywood. With a prenuptial agreement in place, neither sought spousal support. As of 2021, Beckinsale hasn't seen her daughter, Lily, for two years, due to the pandemic and work.
