Working out is not everyone's cup of tea. While there are sweat-freaks who could never be ripped enough - there are several people who have to truly force themselves to simply walk through the gym door! Some gym-goers make it a bit worthwhile every now and then, by offering some amusement for others to make it through the burn! Here is a list of some hilarious and sometimes ironic pictures snapped at the gym. If it wasn't on camera, perhaps you'd think they were made up! From the bizarre to the creative - have fun and don't forget to have a good laugh, too!
Mr. Potato Works Out
It seems Mr. Potato head has decided to hit the gym! A picture like this can usually be interpreted in a number of ways, and it can be fun getting creative with it! Well, with reference to the saying “you are what you eat,” it can be agreed upon that Mr. Potato here eats too much starch! Perhaps he’s after a ‘skinny-fry’ type of look, instead of a baked potato! He’d better not break out in a sweat though – nobody likes a soggy spud!
Extra Support
Everyone knows that glamor and sweating it out certainly do not go together well! You could perhaps do some physical exertions while fully made up, but sweat would be streaming down your face if you were being productive! Just like you wouldn’t wear your heels during a session – not practical nor comfy, and you'd likely be a candidate for an injury! We sure hope it ended well for this lady over here! Maybe she was looking for extra support!
Cat-chy Leotard!
We don’t think it actually matters how much you love cats or perhaps even obsessed with them. Heck, even if you were Catwoman herself, you should never try to go out in public wearing this leotard! Perhaps he was running an experiment – checking whether his toned triceps and ripped abs were distracting enough that nobody would cringe at the feline-themed gym clothes! Well, even Arnold Schwarzenegger’s physique couldn’t distract a soul from that!
The Incredible Hulk
This one has to be some kind of an illusion or prank. Could this guy seriously have piled up what looks like every weight he could find in the gym on his leg press? We’d like to see him do three sets of those! But there’s no way anybody with such freakishly inhuman strength could be motivating for others – it’s practically impossible! Somebody call the prank police – we think there’s an investigation required here!
Dress the Part
There may be an explanation for this woman being dressed in a pair of heels, a cocktail dress, and a fresh hairstyle, but something tells us it still won’t be plausible! We just don’t think there could ever be a good enough reason to do what this woman is doing; not to mention how scary it must be to walk on a treadmill in heels – just think of the danger! Perhaps she was on her way for a night out with the girls and thought she could burn a few calories before hitting the dance-floor!
Motivation at Its Worst
Just setting foot through the door of the gym is a major step for so many people, let alone actually working out! So can you imagine the setback it must be to have a convenient yet point-defeating doughnut stand right there in the facility, glaring at you or taunting you as you try to burn off your last meal? Well, you need the willpower of steel to keep going - let alone maintain a healthy diet!
Gymer's Roadmap
It’s like this hulk of a weight trainer has a built-in meter to gauge his strain – and it’s all over his body! While we’re accustomed to seeing a couple of bulging veins when the guys are out strength training, this is over the top! He looks like a character from X-Men! Perhaps he could get tattooed all over with a fictional village – that sure would make for an interesting conversation piece! He’s a perfect specimen for medical observation of the vascular system – call in the medical school students!
Improvisation
This can be a good solution when you experience any one or all of these things: hear the grunt of overzealous gym goers or the awful music in the facility as you're doing your thing, or perhaps you left your phone altogether. Well, we find it difficult to believe that such conditions would cause you any harm but still, should it ever happen, you might be inspired by this! This guy earns a medal for his creativity and for being determined!
When Pride Goes Wrong
This is definitely not the place to try to show off! The guy seems to have thought that he could handle the extra weight – maybe even seeking to impress someone! He can barely even lift the bar and it looks like he probably pulled a muscle just tying! With a face as red as his, there’s no doubt he was super embarrassed by the situation! In any case, he doesn’t look like much of a bodybuilder in the first place!
Pile - Up
It’s very unlikely that this is a move that any personal trainer would advise! When weights aren’t enough, you need to get creative with your gym partners! This is a tower of bench pressers and squatters – and all the pressure is on the guy at the bottom, so they’d have to take turns! Well, this is not a very practical workout plan! We sure hope they’ve all got some injury cover because they seem to be risk-takers!
The Opposite of Motivation
You don’t even have to step inside this facility to know that the people who do their workout here are probably shirkers! The irony of having escalators at the entrance is stark! What’s worse, it seems like nobody actually takes the stairs! We wonder what motivates these people, that they don’t even enter the gym with a fitness-centered mindset! Well, why climb the real thing, when you can pretend inside while watching a TV screen, right?
Keeping Resolutions
When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, a common feature on almost everyone’s list is to hit the gym aka lose some weight or build those abs. Naturally, that would mean being productive and actually working out to improve your fitness. But it looks like this guy over here skipped the details and took his resolution item ‘spend more time in the gym’ a bit too literally! Well, technically, he's fulfilling that resolution, so perhaps he should be more specific as to what he wants.
Good Intentions Gone Bad
This right here is what happens when a well-meaning friend tries to get a lazy friend to tag along to the gym. When you drag lazy people to accompany you as you sweat it out, you must not expect too much. But we don’t think anybody would expect them to grab a chair and sit on the treadmill in front of the TV screen either! We’ve got to hand it to this person – she’s got spunk!
Balance - Not Only About Diets!
This one is for all those out there who squeal that there’s no time for the gym – in between all the TV shows, snack times, and nap times, of course! This man over here is killing two birds with one stone alright – he’s set up a nice little work/workout station where he can keep track of his workout as well as get some work done! Hey, you’ve got to do whatever you can to keep that paycheck coming through, right? A healthy body and a healthy bank account – at the same time!
Yoga Stunts
We all know of yoga and have probably heard of the downward dog pose, right, but here we have a fitness member with his furry friend doing the upward dog! We don’t know about you, but something just tells us that the dog does it better - and quite effortlessly at that! Perhaps he is his human friend’s fitness trainer – he’s got this art down! Besides, the human sure won’t mind, as it probably attracts all the ladies!
Ronald McLift
Perhaps you would be surprised to witness Ronald McDonald doing a couple bench-presses in his time off. After all, he’s got to double up on his physical exertions if he plans on staying trim despite all those burgers and greasy fries! So, when the diet is bad, the workout has to double! But really, a pity that this guy couldn’t have the time to slip out of his costume after work. Or maybe he’s undercover!
Going The Whole Hog
If you’re about to hop onto an artificial cycle or at least a piece of equipment that simulates an actual cycling activity, then why not go the whole hog and dress the part? Perhaps that’s the thought that crossed this biker's mind when he headed out for a bit of a fat burner in the form of cycling in the gym and threw on a helmet and full cycling gear. Or perhaps he’s even motivating himself by picturing that he’s actually cycling out in the outdoors – whatever works for him then.
First Class Pretender
Sometimes, you find yourself in a position where you have no idea what’s going on and what to do – and take it from those with experience that the best thing to do is to simply pretend as though you know precisely what you’re doing. Perhaps that’s what this guy over here was doing. We wouldn’t be surprised if he was caught running the treadmill backward that day, or picking up the dumbbells with his feet! Either way, he went unnoticed it seems, except for the person behind the camera who caught him at it!
When Boredom Strikes
Have you ever watched kids playing at the park with swings or perhaps even with toys? What happens is that they enjoy whatever it is they’re doing and even get really good at it. However, they would always reach a point where they'd get bored or tired of what they're doing. That’s the point where you'd find them doing all sorts of weird stuff, and often quite dangerously! This guy has the same problem – he’s bored with lifting weights, even though he’s good at it – so he’s mixing it up, but dangerously!
Grandma Strikes Again
We all love old people for their amusing ways of doing things. They simply don’t have a care in the world except to achieve whatever it is they need to achieve at that particular time. This old lady seems to have two things to accomplish for the day – to meet her daily health and fitness goals and be on time for her evening occasion. Trust an old woman to figure out a way to do them both at once! She’s a master at this, we can tell!
It's All About the Pose
Sometimes, we attend fitness facilities for the sake of longevity, health, and toning our bodies or keeping illness at bay. Other times, we'd just like to show off our wardrobe of cute gym wear and perhaps a cute pose or two! This girl over here looks like she is a regular selfie-lover – she’s got the pose down to an art! Of course, there were probably no ‘after’ photos taken – people like this woman normally only take the ‘before’ shots where the hair is still in place! Flex those muscles, ladies!
The Best Workout
It looks like this old man doesn’t quite get the idea of hitting the gym early in the morning! The idea is to get a jump start on your metabolism – with a few press ups and crunches maybe, perhaps some lifts and a bit of cardio. But the only heart-pumping activity he has a chance of experiencing with his method is if he had a frightful nightmare! He’s made himself comfortable for a nap! Well, perhaps he has at least burned a handful of calories with the walk from the parking lot to the facility.
Too Close For Comfort
If we had come across a pair of gym-goers in this position, our eyebrows would have raised, too! Anybody who pumps iron knows how great it can be to have a spotter, but we doubt that this couple’s method of spotting each other is well received by other members of the gym! But she must be providing him with some great motivation – until, of course, he is overcome by distraction and disaster ensues. Perhaps a speed dial to the ambulance is in order should you attempt to do such a provocative position!
Too Many Videos
We’re willing to bet that this lady actually spends too many hours on YouTube or streaming TV watching all kinds of videos about body weight fitness, gymnastics, and maybe calisthenics. After watching pros competing, or maybe even tutorials, we wouldn’t blame anybody for believing they have the knack for something! She sure didn’t – and in this moment of terror, she seems to also display the shock at the fact that she got it wrong! Well, things are not always as easy as they seem to be!
Brain Workout
We’ve all heard that the brain is a muscle, but as far as we know, we haven’t taken it as far as this guy has! He’s decided to give his brain a workout – by encouraging his brain to do weightlifting on its own! Well, the brain’s exercise room is actually the library – not the gym! But you’ve got to hand it to this guy for his efforts! He probably wants to improve his brainpower to be sharper though we don't know what other people with a higher IQ would think of this!
When You Have a Hobby
When you’re at the gym just minding your own business and pounding away at your treadmill, or pumping those weights, you notice a guy suddenly start knitting. So what do you think your reaction would be? Well yes, this actually happened, and the person behind this camera captured the proof that it did, in case you wouldn’t believe it! Perhaps he loves knitting, and couldn’t compromise enough for the sake of his health so he decided to multi-task? Who knows – to each his own, right
Baby Weight
This is what happens when dad is left to play nanny and can’t skip a day pumping iron! Of course, you can’t have the tot running all over the place, and hey, it was a brilliant idea strapping him to his chest for two reasons – the kid won’t get into a fix, plus, it brings strength training to a whole new level! Besides, that baby is sure to enjoy the ride! So, it's a win-win situation here! What we don’t want to think about, though, is what could go wrong – that can't be pretty!
Double Duty
Somebody needs to read the equipment instructions! Seriously though, this woman cannot be seriously exercising. Does she really think using her segway on the treadmill is going to burn any fats? She’s probably only burning calories by digesting her last meal right there! Or maybe, just maybe, she’s practicing how to use her Segway... now there’s an idea! This one sure is a riddle though – we’d love to know what was going on in her mind!
One Size Fits All - Or Not
He’s probably wondering whether this facility is a one-size-fits-all gym! It seems this basketball player simply wouldn’t give up on his daily workout in spite of poor conditions! When there’s a will, there is most certainly a way – and this guy is proof of that adage! Absolutely nothing would seem to get in the way of this guy’s routine - not the equipment, not his trainer, and certainly not the roof! Who says athletes are all brawn and no brains? What a champ!
A Furry Fitness Friend
You know what they say; these furry four-legged guys are a man’s best friend! Perhaps that’s why somebody brought his furry friend with him to the gym. What could be better than a fitness partner who never complains? However, he can’t spot very well, or do strength training – but his cardio is up to scratch! This dog sure knows how to keep in shape so he can show-off in the dog park! He’s even on a low-carb diet!
Super-Workout
What would you do if you saw Batman training for cardio on a treadmill? Well, this guy seems to have some fantasy of fighting crime after working out on a treadmill, or perhaps it was Halloween and he didn’t have time to change! We can imagine that this costume must have made him sweat profusely! Well, maybe all that sweating would melt away the chubbiness and give way to his six-pack! The real deal is probably better than the plastic one, anyway!
Grandma's Solution
This little old lady found herself at the gym on doctor’s orders; he probably suggested it in order to improve her heart rate. Well, all those sweaty, muscular men pumping iron, and doing squats must have gotten her heart racing alright! The best she could do was sip on a nice margarita to keep her blood pressure down! This old lady has got the right idea! Her physician was right alright, she feels a lot better!
Top-Heavy
While there is certainly no doubt about it that this guy over here is absolutely jacked, upon closer inspection, you will see that he isn’t actually all within proportion! Trainers have a condition that they call ‘chicken legs syndrome,' and unfortunately for this guy, he’s a sufferer! Lifting is great and the results are fantastic, but gym-goers know the importance of balancing out all that chest, tricep, and bicep work with sturdy legs! This guy must have missed the memo though – his legs are scrawny!
