Farmer Ben’s horse was pregnant and he was over the moon. There would be a new horse around and that meant more cash if the horse was a ‘good’ horse. The day was finally near and after months of waiting, the moment had arrived. However, the horse wasn’t ready to give birth. She refused to do so.
Of course, Ben had to take her to a medical professional. But after the ultrasound, the animal medic immediately called the police. What could possibly lead them to take such a step without even informing Farmer Ben? He was left in the dark as soon as the police came.
Here Comes The Police
After the vet made the call, the police arrived almost immediately. This expecting mare needed special attention and the professional, alone could not handle the responsibly. She needed surgery and they managed to sedate her right before the police arrived.
Something strange was going on in her stomach and it could’ve possibly led to death, too. It was a tricky situation to be in. Ben was confused and had no idea what was going on. The police just weren’t there for the horse but also called Ben so they could speak to him. He didn’t know what he had done wrong.
Interrogations
The police were interrogating Ben and he had to answer all their questions about himself and his horse. The name of his horse was Felicia and Ben loved horses so he wanted another one. One way this could be done was if Felicia gave birth. While he was with the police, the animal medic was operating on Felicia in the surgery room.
He could hear the vet’s disbelief upon shouting about something that they couldn’t believe. What was going on in there that was so unusual? It was just a regular gestation, but Felicia had been expecting for a little less than a year already.
Who Would Do The Job?
Before all this, Ben had to find someone that was certified to legally impregnate his horse. He had been searching for months with no luck. There were not many people who were certified and could do the job legally. Ben contemplated if he would have to buy a horse instead. Then one lucky day he finally came across the guy who could do the job.
He was available on short notice and would come in a few days. Ben was so excited. He was finally going to get another horse. He injected Felicia and within a few days she was pregnant. It would only be a matter of months before there would be another horse running around.
The Ultrasound
Ben would finally get what he wanted, although it was a long and slow process. After two weeks of the procedure, he called the vet to see if she was really expecting. They took her ultrasound and revealed that she was, indeed, carrying a foal. Ben was over the moon. The horse and her child were healthy and everything was fine initially.
However, things didn’t go so smoothly throughout her gestation. At first, Felicia wasn’t able to sleep as much as she did before all this. But on top of that, Ben was not able to walk with her in her stables anymore.
Felicia was changing
Felicia had changed a lot throughout her pregnancy. She couldn’t do a lot of things that she did before and she became quite restless. She had trouble falling asleep and she could barely run like she used to. Ben understood that it was because of what she’s going through. The animal medic had also informed him that this was common and it would be over after she gave birth to her foal.
In the week that she was supposed to welcome her child, she reached the boiling point. Ben made sure her delivery went smoothly and prepared everything for her. However, she still wasn’t in the birthing state and he couldn’t understand why.
Was It Time?
Ben called the vet again because he simply couldn’t understand what was going on with Felicia. He had done everything in his power to make her feel comfortable but she still wasn’t there. In the call, he explained the entire situation. They told Ben that he needed to make sure Felicia got on the ground so she could lay down immediately.
The medical professional then proceeded to explain to Ben that he had to make sure that Felicia would stretch out on the ground completely as it seemed like she was about to give birth. It wasn’t easy to do that as Felicia was getting quite aggressive.
Would Felicia Attack Ben?
Felicia was quite aggressive and getting her to stretch out wasn’t easy. Ben feared that if he made any moves towards her, she might attack him. For the first time, he was afraid of his own horse. If she did attack him, it wouldn’t be good for both, Ben and Felicia.
He didn’t know what to do but the vet had told him that this was the only way she could deliver her foal safely. Ben positioned himself in such a way that would make it painless for Felicia and he treaded with caution so she would not attack him.
News That Would Alarm Anyone
Now that Felicia was fully stretched out, Ben called the vet again to discuss the next steps of the process. They readily guided him through all of it and asked him to check for a bulge on her stomach. He hasn’t noticed it before and it was definitely there.
The professional’s suspicions were correct but Ben didn’t know what this really was. He was shocked when he found it and upon asking them what it was; the answer he received was not very comforting. Was Felicia going to be okay and would she be able to deliver her foal safely? Now, Ben wasn’t so sure.
Was The Doctor Going To Make It In Time?
The doctor did not prepare for any complications as they didn’t expect them. To understand what was happening to Felicia, the medical professional had to be there. They needed to do an ultrasound and told Ben that she would be there right away. However, how were they going to get to him?
Upon getting in the ride, they soon realized that it was rush hour, getting stuck in traffic for longer than anticipated. This was only making things more difficult, and they knew if Felicia had any chance of delivering her foal safely, an animal expert needed to be there.
The Motorcycle Ride
The vet knew they would be stuck on the road for hours, and it would be impossible to reach Felicia on time if they didn’t find a way. There had to be another option of getting to the farm, and that’s when Ben suggested that one of his closest friends pick her up on his motorcycle.
The professional agreed and went back to the clinic to wait for Ben’s friend. He picked her up and in a matter of minutes she arrived to the farm. They immediately started with her examination, as Felicia wasn’t moving at all. But when the animal medic came closer, she suddenly started to move again.
A Difficult Choice
Felicia was getting very aggressive and the vet knew that to protect Ben and herself, she had to sedate the horse. However, doing that was no easy job and she needed all the help she could get. If anyone else tried to help, though then Felicia would react more aggressively. Ben and his friend kept their distance hoping she would calm down but she didn’t.
There was another solution. The vet could use heavier medicines that they could use from a distance, but that was not without risks. There was a possibility that Felicia and her foal would not survive this. Ben had to make a choice and he was at a crossroads.
A Decision from the Heart
Ben knew he had to make a decision and it had to be fast. Both decisions came with risk but he had to think about what was best for Felicia. She could be in serious dangerous if the decision he made didn’t turn out the way he wanted it to.
He made a tough decision and knew that in order for Felicia to give birth safely, she had to be sedated. So he gave the vet permission to use heavier medications. But before she could do that, they had to get themselves to safety as Felicia was getting more aggressive by the minute.
Leaving the Stables
The vet informed Ben and his friends that they had to leave the stables. Felicia was getting aggressive and it wasn’t safe for them to be around her during this time. She could injure them somehow and would react without thinking. However, as they tried to slowly back out of the stables, Felicia got even more aggressive.
This made Ben not want to leave her alone. However, Ben knew he had to walk away as Felicia was in a lot of pain and her misery was only increasing by the minute. He left sooner than planned so the vet could sedate her.
Getting to the Ultrasound
Ben and his friend were away and the vet finally managed to sedate Felicia. She was restless but she somehow managed to give her the medication. After a few minutes of waiting until she was asleep, she started to prepare the ultrasound he was about to conduct. This moment was very stressful for both, the vet and Ben.
What was going to happen to Felicia and what would they find the in the ultrasound? He hooked up the machine and asked Ben to stretch her out completely so he could get a better look. She was not in the ideal position due to her restlessness.
A Mysterious Phone Call
While performing the ultrasound, the vet’s tone changed. It went from optimistic to pessimistic. At first, Ben had noticed but didn’t ask because he didn’t want to distract the professional. He wished he had asked sooner because the vet went away to make a phone call.
This was suspicious because they had not told Ben anything and went away to make a call. What was it about? Ben felt worried because he wasn’t sure if his two horses would be okay. The change in the tone of they’re voice along with rushing away to make a call got Ben worried all the more.
Back To The Situation
The vet was now back at the ranch after making the call. They had assured Ben that his two horses were fine and he could breathe a sigh of relief. Felicia needed to rest first in order to give birth to her foal. As Ben agreed with this, he headed back inside his ranch together with the vet.
As he was heading back, he heard a noise. Some kind of siren. It sounded similar to that of a police car. And it was! Ben was really shocked. Why were the police here? What was going on? And then he realized what had just happened.
The Arrival of the Police
He understood from the sirens that the police were nearing them. But why? Ben was confused but he suddenly realized that the call that the vet made was to the police. But why would she do that without informing Ben first? What was wrong with his horse?
Ben was incredibly worried and thought that he would get in trouble but he had done nothing wrong. If the police did come it would probably be because something was wrong with the horse. However, the animal medic explained the situation to Ben and it became clearer to him. He could relax for a bit but was she being honest?
Surgery was Needed
The animal medic told Ben that his horse needed surgery and that is why the police were called. Apparently, she found something that didn’t belong in the horses belly alongside the foal and that is why the help of the police was needed. Without their equipment, she couldn’t perform the surgery and sedate Felicia properly, as she now only used a simple sedative.
The police could help the medical professional perform the surgery but this was a bit strange. Why did she call the police and not people from the hospital? Wouldn’t they know how to deal with this situation more effectively? Ben sensed something was weird and then the police called him.
Time for Interrogations
Ben let the police in and allowed them to do their job. He calmed down when the vet explained the situation to him but then an officer called him. Why was Ben being made to answer questions? He was being interrogated by the police. The officer said that he had to to come with them because they have to ask him some questions.
He didn’t understand why they needed to speak to him but since he had done nothing wrong, eh decided to go with them to answer their questions. He had nothing to fear and whatever was happening was not his doing.
Confirming Identity
When the interrogation began, they started asking Ben questions about his identity. It was nothing too major but basic questions to confirm if he was truly the owner of the horse and this ranch. The police needed to know who they were questioning exactly so they could begin their real questioning.
At this point, Ben thought they were asking these basic questions because of some paperwork. However, after it developed into something more serious. Was this just a regular case of a horse who couldn’t give birth without police equipment or was there something more to the story? He was about to find out some shocking news.
Criminal Background Check
This was soon turning into a criminal investigation and Ben had no idea what was going on. He had done absolutely nothing wrong and everything about the entire procedure was legal. They asked how his horse got pregnant in the first place. Ben told them that he contacted an expert and he also did an entire background checked.
Everything he did was legal and the man was certified. He had shown the police all of his sources. He was worried why they were even asking about him. What did that man do to his horse and was Felicia in some kind of danger?
More Investigation
This case was beyond Ben and his horse. This was a case of a criminal on the loose. Felicia might be in trouble because of this man who could potentially be a criminal. How did this happen when Ben had done a proper background check?
He was getting more agitated by the minute and feared for his two horses. He couldn’t leave until he had answered all the questions. The police officer grabbed something in his bag. Ben was not expecting this. What he pulled out of his bag was an album. But who were the faces in them?
Identifying Mug Shots
It turns out it was an album of mug shots of potential criminals. The authorities had a compilation of their criminal records or police records, a person's criminal history collected once charges are brought against someone. Ben was asked to go through them until he found a familiar face.
As he turned the pages he saw a face he recognized. He was instantly filled with dread as he looked at the image. He knew who this man was and he had seen him just a couple of months ago. He feared for what he had to hear next.
A Familiar Face
The face in one of the mug shots was the man who got Felicia pregnant. But why was he a suspect? What crime had he committed? He was certified and Ben had done his research. The entire processing was legal and the police knew that it was. So why was his face there?
This made Ben more alarmed and he worried about Felicia and her foal. If this man was a suspect it would only mean that there was really something wrong with Felicia and it was all his fault. There was some criminal activity going on that he was unaware of.
Illegal Medications and Animal Testing
The man who helped Felicia get pregnant was a criminal. There was no doubt about it now. He was certified and was an expert when it came to horses. However, he also had a history of criminal medical activities. The police were already looking for him and notified other animal medic because he tended to test new medical treatments on different kinds of animals.
This greatly alarmed Ben. What had he done to his beloved horse? Was there something illegal going on inside her? Where there medications that could be potentially dangerous to her health and the health of her foal?
What Was In Felicia’s Belly?
Felicia was in fact, pregnant but there was something else along with her foal, too. When the medical professional took the ultrasound, they found something strange and that is why they called the police immediately. In the ultrasound they found a medical chip. The vet called the police who were able to retrieve the chip.
They had been looking for it and it would prove as evidence against the man who helped get Felicia to carry a foal. This was one thing that they saw in the ultrasound but that wasn’t all. There was another interesting thing that they had noticed.
A New Life
There was a chip that had to be removed from Felicia for her safety, and so that the police could take it as evidence. It would prove helpful in their case and might lead them to the man they were trying to catch. The vet had managed to safely remove the chip from Felicia and she was now free of the twisted testing done on her body.
Good news would await Ben as Felicia had also given birth to her foal. The moment everyone was impatiently waiting for had arrived. Not only that, but there was something very special about this new addition to their family.
A Rare Specimen
The second thing that the animal doctor had found in the ultrasound was that the horse was quite unusual. In fact, he was rare and according to them, only one in a million horses are like this. It was a rare breed and that would mean Ben could actually catch a lot of cash if he would choose to sell it.
It was quite a valuable horse but Ben had only one thing on his mind. He wanted to take care of this new foal and wanted to spend time with it. He was also incredibly glad that his horse, Felicia was now, okay. Everyone was overjoyed.
A Happy Ending
Despite the illegal activity that took place and the complications, in the end it all worked out. Felicia was okay despite going through all that pain and restlessness and so was her new foal. Ben was enjoying his time with them and he was very happy to get a new horse that he named Siempre.
Ben decided to keep both horses, and he felt that this rollercoaster ride of an experience was meant to deliver a valuable lesson. Even if this story might be fictional, as per Snopes, it still leaves many of us wondering what we would do if we owned the rare breed of foal.
