We make plans, we get better, and we have ambitious dreams. We only get one life, so we have to make the best of it. But what happens when life doesn't turn out as planned? Well, one can find the answer to that and many other questions in the following images, depicting hilarious instances in which life simply… Failed!
More than a series of funny pictures taken from the internet's darkest corners, the following images teach us a valuable lesson: no matter how hard we try, perfection is always impossible to achieve. So, in the meantime, laughing truly is the best medicine.
Framed By Stick Sunblock
Sunscreen is fundamental, as it protects our skin from the sun. Overexposure to the sun can lead to early skin aging, dryness, irritation, and even skin cancer, so it's better to be protected at all times. However, we recommend sticking to traditional sunscreen products instead of going for stick sunblock. Why?
Sadly, stick sunblock is as practical as it is unpractical. While it's very easy to apply on the body, it can also give way to situations like the one in the photo. To say that this man "missed a spot" wouldn't be accurate, as he was extremely negligent with his stick sunblock.
Blister Packs Are Annoying
This type of plastic packaging is known as a blister pack and is used in all sorts of products and consumer goods. Most commonly, blister packs are used in the pharmaceutical industry for storing pills. But unlike pills (which can be easily removed from the package), others blister-pack products are frustratingly hard to open. And sometimes, people just lose their minds!
Check out this life fail, for example. The person who bought this USB/micro-USB cable was so fed up with the hard-to-access blister pack that it ended up cutting through the cable itself. In this game of rock, paper, scissors, the latter are but a lost cause…
A Steal On Wheels
Don't you love heist movies? They explore the craziest strategies put together by classy heist men who attempt to steal the most secluded objects in the world. The harder the catch, the better the heist movie. For that reason, we feel like this bike wouldn't make for such an exciting plot, as it's simply too easy to steal.
What was this person thinking? Who would leave his or her bike in the middle of the street attached to a post that offers zero protection? Fortunately, the people passing through this life failure decided to capture the moment with a photo instead of taking the bike home.
Hit The Snow Button
We have a feeling that the man in the photo knew what he was doing. There's something about his expression that reminds us of a prankster, and he sure seems to be happy to be covered in snow. The same, unfortunately, cannot be said of the poor woman stuck in the driver's seat, who has unwantedly transformed into a snowman.
In case you don't get the picture, this is what happens when you press the sunroof button in your car in the middle of a very snowy day. Considering that snow is frozen water, the clean-up must have been an absolute bummer
Rita's Incomplete Wooden Floor
Rita didn't have too many things on her to-do list. But she wanted to finish varnishing the wooden floor in the living room as soon as possible. Being a determined woman, she decided to get started with all of the work. In one morning and one afternoon, she was done with it. Well, almost…
Sadly, Rita forgot that varnishing the floor also requires varnishing the area where she was standing. Because she didn't plan first, Rita is now stranded in the middle of her living-room wooden floor, waiting for all the other areas to dry. It's a classic case of "I think you missed a spot."
Unsubutle Criminals
Do you know those times when you really need a light pole but you don't have the money to buy one? We know that this one is hard to relate to… Nonetheless, it is funny to look at this picture of two men who thought they were getting away with carrying a stolen light pole on top of their car.
The two shirtless individuals got caught by the police committing the most obvious crime the world has ever seen. The proverb "crime doesn't pay" applies in any situation, but it's even more accurate in this situation. Good one, Jacksonville Police!
Boiling With Anticipation
Ceramic and induction cooktops are different from one another, but they're the modern (and safer) alternative to classic stoves more and more people trust. The only problem with this kind of cooktop is that it isn't always easy to know which burner is turned on and which burner isn't. Or is it?
Even though the burner on the left is visibly turned on, the person cooking those two boiled eggs seems to be unaware that he or she isn't using the correct burner. Boiling eggs is very simple and takes about 15 minutes, but only assuming that one's using a working burner.
Stuck At The Beach
This group of friends was just trying to enjoy a sunny day, but wet sand got in the way of their plans. They made it into our list of life fails because they failed to realize that parking a huge SUV right next to the ocean is probably not the brightest idea in the world. How on Earth will they get out of this pickle?
To remove an SUV from the sand, Port Charlotte Volkswagen recommends freeing the tires by digging them out, creating some traction, and only then hitting the gas pedal. We'll keep that in mind for the summer.
Ready to Blow Up
The license plate reads "Texas," but it's not like we needed a license plate to know that this scene was captured in the Lone Star state. The Texan man in the photo needed some gas, so he grabbed his pick-up truck and drove to the local station. The only issue? He forgot that gasoline should be kept in safely-closed containers.
Using a pair of thrash cans to transport gas in a pick-up truck's trunk is not only messy (the gas will probably spill everywhere) but astonishingly dangerous. Imagine that someone throws a cigarette bun in there; the result is a deadly explosion.
Homophonic Trouble
Homophones, homographs, or homonyms: these are three names we can give to words that sound the same while spelled differently. There are plenty of homophones in the English language, from bear/bare to sea/see (just to name a few). However, we never thought they could ruin someone's homework.
Sadly, the Twitter user John confused the word "Euthanasia" with the homophonic expression "Youth in Asia" and ended up making an entire two-hour project that proved worthless! This is why homework instructions should always be provided in written format: as shown by homophones, simply saying words is not precise enough.
When Christmas' Over
Christmas time is wonderful: there's cold and snow outside, people's homes are thoroughly decorated, and the whole family is excited to get together. But how does one deal with post-Christmas depression? According to this suburban neighborhood, the answer is "Throw Christmas out the window!"
That's right: someone wasn't too happy that Christmas was over and decided to get rid of the Christmas tree by throwing it out in the street. The only problem was that the three got stuck on top of another tree, looking like a lasting symbol of people's laziness. This is why Christmas should last all year.
Insupportable Customer Support
Everybody who has worked as a customer support representative knows that people have a bad habit of complaining about stuff they shouldn't complain about. It's not all people, but just some clients who don't seem to understand that, sometimes, there's nothing wrong with the product, but with their sense of judgment.
The complaint in the picture is particularly funny because it's stated in the product's package that it will stop working after 30 minutes of use. It's right there in bold letters! Funnily enough, some people don't seem to know how to read despite being capable of writing perfectly-good complaints.
Wood (Would) You Believe That?
Transporting two huge blocks of wood in one's car isn't easy. It's not just a case of finding a way of fitting both pieces in there; it's also about paying attention to safety and avoiding a gross life failure like the one depicted in the photo.
This little blunder can happen to anyone, but how much will it cost this poor driver? According to sources such as J. D. Power, replacing a vehicle's windshield can cost anywhere between $100 and $400, depending on the model in question. We've heard of morning wood before, but we never thought it was this dangerous!
It's Like a Looney Tunes Episode…
We understand that this young man decided to take a photo of his wrecked car as soon as he saw it. After all, how often do we get to see a real upright piano falling from the sky? Even though this is a rare event in real life, falling pianos are so standard in cartoons (especially old ones) that they have become a clichè.
In online forums, many have discussed the prevalence of falling pianos in old cartoons. Sadly, there's still no definite explanation for it. Another object that tends to fall out of nowhere in animated pictures is the mighty anvil.
You've Got Mail!
Looking at this picture, we don't know what to think: is this the doing of a highly competent mailman, or the opposite? People want their packages to be left in a safe place, but they're not big fans of spending hours trying to take them out. This one makes for such a tight fit that it's probably better just to leave it there!
All things considered, though, we feel like the mailman behind this deserves a raise. Mailmen are essential workers, but they are still relatively underpaid, with an average hourly salary of about $25. In some cases, mailmen's hourly wages are lower than $20.
If You're Gonna Do It, Do It Right!
Doing things right takes some effort, but it also pays off. Here's an example: this woman wanted a new look for her car, so she decided to visit the local store and buy some spray paint. Sadly, she's unaware that the color will soon begin to crack, potentially damaging her vehicle for good.
To make a solid auto paint job at home, one needs a few tools and some high-quality enamel paint. The tools necessary include sandpaper, a powered sander, masking tape, and masking paper. A spray gun and an air compressor can also come in handy, as reported by the guys at Toolmart.
The Ever-Expanding Cake
One cannot make a cake without dough, the substance that causes the cake to rise and take form. The only problem with dough is that it should be used sparingly; after all, too much dough can result in a life failure like the one seen in the photo. It's sad because this dessert would look delicious otherwise.
We guess that pastry chefs need to be careful with who they employ as their assistants. The person behind this ever-growing cake is surely not ready to take on complex pastry challenges. If this cake continues to rise, it won't fit in the room!
Overprotective Phone Mom
"Overprotective" is an adjective that's often used to describe moms who are excessively concerned about their child's well-being. However, it's also fitting for people who want to preserve their phones so badly that they don't even remove the plastic film protector that comes in the packaging.
Ironically enough, this is not a good practice for keeping one's phone in good condition. Manufacturers such as Samsung recommend getting rid of the film protector as soon as possible, as keeping the plastic cover can give way to several issues—some of which are evidently demonstrated in the picture. Just rip it off, girl!
A Matter of Size
Let us tell you about George. George always dreamed of having a huge American-style car, so he spent years saving enough money to get one. When he got it, though, he realized that driving an enormous vehicle around town wasn't as comfortable as he had assumed. So, what did he decide to do?
Like Hannah Montana, George reached out for "the best of both worlds." He may be driving a huge car, but he's not snubbing any available parking spot, even if such reads "Small Car Only!" We don't know why people insist on saying that size doesn't matter when it clearly does. This is why nobody likes George now…
A Concrete Problem
The human race has been building roads made out of concrete at least since the first concrete road was built in Inverness, Scotland, in 1865. Nonetheless, some people seem to be unaware of how concrete works centuries after the material became common. Concrete rule number one? Don't walk or drive on top of it unless you're sure it's dry!
Sadly, the person in the photo ignored all the signs and got stuck in the road. While concrete takes a maximum of 48 hours to dry enough so one can walk on it, the whole drying process can continue for as many as 28 days.
People Don't Think Right When They're Hungry
This life-failure image has a lot to digest. The "winning" detail is the gas hose stuck to the car, but how can we ignore that this vehicle belongs to a State Trooper or that such a State Trooper seems to be in line for a meal at McDonald's?
This is how we think the story went: a tired State Trooper was extremely hungry when he noticed he was almost out of gas. He visited the gas station briefly before stopping at his favorite fast-food restaurant, but he was so eager to have a Big Mac that he forgot to take the gas hose out.
She's Breaking The Mold (And Her Back Too)
Design is not just about making a product beautiful but also about making it as functional and easy to use as possible. Take shopping carts, for example: whether larger or smaller, they come with wheels so that we know they should be put on the ground. If they were meant to be used otherwise, they would have come with a shoulder strap.
Design matters aside, the woman in the photo isn't going to let anybody tell her what to do. Her shopping cart features no shoulder strap, but she doesn't seem too bothered about it. It looks like a pain in the back!
Eyes-On-Phone Society
More than just funny, this picture is a poetic symbol of modern-day society. While stranded in the subway, these commuters all decided to grab their phones at the same time. According to Exploding Topics, the average person spends three hours and 15 minutes per day browsing his or her phone. That's a lot!
Reid Health recommends that people should spend no more than two hours per day looking at their phones, but that's not a likely scenario. Even the person who snapped this photo was forced to grab their phone before doing so, which is emblematic of how phone-dependent we are.
0% Battery
We continue to wait patiently for a wireless revolution in the world of consumer electronics, but—for now—we still have to deal with cables. The issue with cables is that they can be very annoying, especially if they stick together in ways that cannot be undone. And when such happens, it's only normal that tech-related failures occur.
The person behind this photo saw his or her mom's phone "charging" and couldn't resist capturing the moment. The funny thing is that mom truly believes she's charging her phone even though it's only connected to the headphones. Next time, please organize your messy cables!
Trending, Spinning, and Flying
Remember the fidget spinner craze? Around 2017, the world was introduced to a brand-new trending toy, and manufacturers couldn't resist inventing multiple alternative versions of the spinner. One of them was the fidget spinner helicopter, a small flying device that many people (including the poor dad in the photo) found highly annoying.
Even though it only became a hit in 2017, the fidget spinner was originally conceived by a woman named Catherine Hettinger. Hettinger had the idea in 1993 but was rejected by the giant toy manufacturer Hasbro. In 2013, mere years before the fidget-spinner craze started, her patent expired.
Instaworthy Meal
We couldn't imagine a picture that was a better satire of modern-day social media. Here’s a woman posing with her food for an Instagram photo instead of simply living in the moment and enjoying her meal. But that's not all. She's also putting on the most annoying ‘’duckface,’’ pout, which is now long off-trend.
The most striking detail, however, is that the woman she’s ended up spilling her expensive food on the table while snapping a new Instagram photo. Has society gone mad? And will we ever be able to just enjoy a nice meal at a restaurant like we used to?
Ambitious Transportation
Jonathan likes to transport things from one place to another in his white truck. Whenever one of his friends needs to move, Jonathan is the guy to call. But we think Jonathan's pushing his luck here: one thing is to carry furniture around town, and another is to put an entire car inside the trunk of a truck!
The worst part is that Jonathan wasn't even able to close the trunk, which is as dangerous as it looks. If the police get a hold of him, there's no way he's getting home without a fine. Nonetheless, Jonathan's packing skills are impressive.
Goodbye Beautiful Neck Beard
A reciprocating saw, also known as a power saw, is a powerful electric hand saw that should be kept as far away from children as possible. Playing with a power saw is ill-advised, and even experienced professionals should be extra careful when dealing with one. Get distracted while operating a power saw, and the next time you know it, your beard may be gone.
That's precisely what happened to the man in the picture. He spent decades developing his impressive neck beard, but it was gone in a split second. Fortunately, the man doesn't seem too bothered that his neck's a whole two pounds lighter now.
Wipes For The Home
Kirkland Signature wipes are a best-selling product, but they're not meant to be used on human skin. As the label states, Kirkland Signature wipes should be used for scrubbing the household despite their impressive bacteria-killing efficiency. So, which wipes should people buy to take care of their hygiene?
According to Amazon and other product-comparison websites, Costco wipes, and Huggies wipes are the best for hygiene-related matters, especially if these involve babies and children. Compared to the Huggies wipes (described as the most moistened in the market), the Kirkland Signature wipes are very dry. The most important thing is never to forget to read the package.
That's Not How It Works!
Sometimes, we take our safety for granted. Take gas stations, for example. Pretty much everyone is more than comfortable with pumping gas into the car despite it being very dangerous. Some people, like the woman in the photo, are so unaware of the risks that they don't even care about spilling the gas onto the correct orifice!
More than funny, this type of epic failure can cost one's life. Gas stations pose many impending risks, including the risk of explosion, gasoline and diesel burns, and vapor inhalation. The latter can give way to health issues such as nausea, headaches, and nose and throat irritation.
Crushing Love
Owning a pet is terrific: animals are cute and can help us to feel less lonely. But out of all the pet options out there, snakes are one of the most unusual. Snakes are not only viewed as creepy by many, but they're also less predictable than cats and dogs. And sometimes, their love can constrict us—literally!
The poor woman in the photo knows what we're talking about, and she was forced to go to the hospital after her snake turned on her. According to Omega, some snake species can apply a pressure of six pounds per square inch during constriction.
Express Drying Isn't Recommended
Waiting for the clothes to dry is a bummer. Going to the laundromat fixes the issue but can be quite expensive. So, people look out for alternatives. Take the man in the photo, for example. He wanted to go out with his favorite t-shirt, but it was still wet. So, what did he do? Put it on top of the stove, of course!
Anyone who knows how stoves work should be able to predict what will happen next. The t-shirt dried, that's for sure, but not in the way it was intended. Looking at the bright side of life, that does look like a new interesting t-shirt design.
The Head Nodder
Most people spend their life without going to court. In the United States, for example, a mere 2% of federal cases end up in trial (as per Pew Research). However, it's always good to be ready for the moment—just in case. Rule number one of going to court? Speak using words instead of head nods to make the job easier for the court stenographer.
Sadly, not all people have the necessary composure to behave in court. Individual A, as seen in this court report, was so nervous that he or she didn't understand the number one rule of going to court. At least it's funny.
Print Screen, They Said
Somebody told this person that he or she should make a print of the tablet's screen. Not too familiar with the way technology works, the person decided to visit the closest copy store and do this! As far as print screens go, this is as literal as things can get. It's also a gigantic waste of time and printer ink!
To correctly make a print screen on one's phone, one should press the volume up and side buttons simultaneously. This technique works for virtually all Android devices, but it can be different for Apple phones. Whatever you do, though, don't just print your phone's screen.
Miles-Off Feng Shui
Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese practice that aims to produce a more harmonious relationship between individuals and their surrounding environments. Nowadays, the principles of Feng Shui are still used, especially in home design. But before getting all Feng Shui, one must first learn how to master the home-design basics.
For one, doors should contain door knobs, so they can be comfortably opened. In addition, they shouldn't open to the inside of a room in which the doors themselves barely fit. So, here's the deal: first, fix those annoyingly unpractical doors, and then we can start working on the Feng Shui.
When Linda Got Distracted
Linda was having a rough morning. She woke up a couple of hours later than she wanted to, and she still needed to grab some goods from the store. Half asleep and half awake, she walked for a bit while carrying her shopping bag. She was lost in her thoughts. Then, out of a sudden, she felt something weird in her feet.
When Linda looked down, she couldn't believe it: she was stuck in wet cement once again! Distracted people are more likely to get themselves in a pickle, and the worst thing is that they're too distracted to avoid it.
Eyelash Disaster
In our image-obsessed world, everything must be taken care of, from bad toenails to annoying split ends. To impress friends and family, one should also have impeccable eyelashes. But is the neverending pursuit of beauty worth losing our eyelashes? We don't think so!
According to celebrity makeup artist Katey Denno, eyelash curlers aren't dangerous if used correctly. The problem is that some people apply too much pressure on the curler, which can—in the worst possible scenario—result in broken or bald eyelashes in the worst possible scenario. We cannot imagine how painful it must be to be left eyelash-free while trying to get bigger and more beautiful eyelashes.
Overcooked Pre-Cooked Meals
Not all people are natural-born cooks and comfortable in the kitchen, as Josh knows well now. His wife was away from town, so making dinner was up to him. Knowing that he was never a talented chef, Josh visited the local store and grabbed two pre-cooked meals. Sadly, he couldn't even perform such a simple task without ruining his oven.
The problem was that Josh forgot that the chopping board (generally made of plastic) must be removed before the pre-cooked meal is in the oven. We expected this cooking disaster from a five-year-old but never from a grown-up man. Get a grip, Josh!
The Claw Machine Girl
The claw machine, also known as the claw crane, is a classic carnival pastime that's been around for close to a century. The original machine was invented in the early '30s by the carnival operator William Bartlett and patented in 1932. But like most versions of the game, the original claw machine didn't include a little girl inside.
We don't know how this child managed to get inside the claw machine, but we feel like this is every little kid's dream. Now it's up to her, not the claw, to decide who gets a toy and who doesn't. Her collection of coins must be huge by now!
The Machine's Always Right
Hair curlers and straighteners are essential items for many people, especially if they have long, beautiful manes. They are heated by electronic components that allow them to curl or straighten the hair that's wrapped around them. It's not rocket science by any stretch of the imagination, but some people have trouble operating these tools nonetheless.
The woman in the picture is getting frustrated with her hair curler because she forgot to plug it in. She is five minutes away from calling the manufacturer and complaining, so we hope she realizes what's going on before ruining someone else's day.
The Saw That Nobody Saw
Small mistakes happen to the very best of us, and this image is a fine example of that. This person wanted to build a new deck for his or her home and did an excellent job at that. The deck was so well-made that it looked like something a professional would come up to. But there's a small issue getting in the way of perfection here…
Have you seen it? We surely "saw" it (pun intended). That electrical cord was sadly left behind and is now a part of the deck's integral structure. This can only mean one thing: that saw ain't going nowhere now.
Young Johnny Exhausting Behavior
Young Johnny has always been a hyperactive kid who loves to get himself into all kinds of trouble. Nonetheless, his parents never expected to find him like this when they got home after their first dinner date in years. Johnny was left without supervision, so what did he decide to do? Stick his head on a vehicle exhaust, of course!
Unfortunately for Johnny, breathing vehicle exhaust fumes isn't a healthy activity by any stretch of the imagination. According to HSE, it can cause many difficulties, such as eye irritation, respiratory-tract irritation, and carbon-monoxide poisoning. Oh, and have we mentioned it's very hard to clean?
Plot Twist
This person had a couple of bottles of wine already when he or she decided to get more. The only problem? The last bottle in the pantry was a twist-off, meaning it didn't have a cork. Probably intoxicated, this person decided to use a wine opener nonetheless. The result? A pretty funny wine-related mess!
Luckily, wine can be good for one's body and mind, as it is rich in antioxidants, lowers bad cholesterol, regulates blood sugar, reduces the risk of cancer, improves memory, and helps to treat common colds. Despite its benefits, it's always important to drink wine in moderation.
A Healthy Snack
Never mind the fact that the person who bought this food couldn't care to read the instructions. The most impactful life failure in the picture is not instructions-related but rather health-related. After all, what kind of grown-up person chooses to have frozen snacks, coke, and two bottles of whisky for dinner?
Considering Jack Daniel's is pretty famous in the United States, we're guessing this is an American dinner through and through. It makes sense: according to the Trust for America's Health organization, an unbelievable 41.9% of American citizens have obesity. The obesity rate is higher among Black and Hispanic citizens.
